Can you imagine being a health-conscious doctor who eats a whole foods diet, exercises regularly, has normal labs (blood sugar, cholesterol and CAC score all good) and has a widowmaker heart attack at age 34?? That’s what happened to my guest on the podcast this week. Dr. Stephen Hussey had a widow maker heart attack out of the blue. Yes, he was managing Type 1 diabetes which put him at a higher risk, but he had been managing that well for a long time. It got him asking questions, especially after the advice and information he received in the hospital that did not reflect what the real research says. He was recommended eight medications in the hospital and told he’d be on five of them for the rest of his life. He takes none of them. In this week’s episode we’re challenging the conventional heart health narrative - from the role of statins to the fear around red meat and cholesterol - and take a deeper look at what actually supports a strong, resilient heart. This week we’re stepping into a sensitive and heavy topic about Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA) and the reality of spiritual warfare. I was inspired to do this episode after a conversation with someone who has personally experienced this kind of trauma which is more common than you would think. To help navigate this difficult topic, Dr. Robin Braun (PhD in Integrative Medicine, Master’s in Psychology, ordained minister) is walking us through the biblical history that has led us to modern day spiritual warfare, the biological effects of trauma and the open doors/legal ground that we unknowingly affirm. My heart in having conversations like this is to bring compassion, clarity, and ultimately the light of Christ into places where people are suffering. As believers, we know that darkness is not overcome by ignoring it. So many Christians are doing all the right things. They’re praying. Renewing their minds. Working on their habits. Cleaning up their food. Taking the supplements. Biblical wellness pioneer, Jordan Rubin, has a long history of using God’s Word as a guide to health. On November 2024, Dr. Pete Sulack was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and given eight months to live. By March 2025, he was declared in full remission. A lot of us think of our identity in terms of what we DO (ie: I’m a mother, I’m a nutritionist, I’m a rancher, etc.) But our vocation is not our identity. God has a special calling on your life and a special name He calls you specifically. But you have to ask. I am often asked whether or not I think muscle testing is Christian. To have this discussion, I invited Jimmy Scaringi to be a guest on the podcast this week. I first heard Jimmy speak at the Cellcore conference a few years ago.The title of his presentation was Breakthroughs in Clinical Applications For Autistic Children and it was fantastic. But I was sold before he even started because he got up on stage and said, “I am a devoted Christian,” and then he literally prayed to Jesus right there from the stage! It was amazing! Jimmy is also one of the main muscle testing instructors for Cellcore and I thought he’d be a great person to offer perspective. This guy is on fire for The Lord and for the health of the human body. You’re not going to hear THIS at church! A diagnosis or “label” is helpful, but it’s not our identity or life sentence. Functional health coach and author, Erin Kerry, has learned this well. One of the first people who caught my attention doing the Carnivore diet was Kelly Hogan. I’m moving into my sixth year of taking people through the Cellcore Foundational Detox Protocol. I’ve learned a lot as a practitioner from this experience. Things like: Parasites don’t just live in the gut, they can live in your sinus cavity, joints, brain, gallblader…just about anywhere in the body. Yeah, that chronic sinus infection could be due to a parasite. Gut protocols address the gut, but not your whole body. This is why I switched gears and started recommending Cellcore as a go-to foundational step. Toxins create deficiency. They steal electrons and important nutrients from your body. The supplemental vitamins and minerals will never be enough if you don’t address the toxic overload. Toxins feed parasites. If you’re not addressing the toxins, you’re spinning your wheels.Drainage before detox. Drainage before detox. Drainage before detox. People who go into detoxes without opening drainage pathways (so the toxins can get out) and addressing mitochondria are setting themselves up for a hard (and less effective) experience. Binders are a must but conventional binders (like charcoal) only work in the gut and not systemically. Plus, long-term use puts you at risk for nutrient deficiency. Cellcore binders work systemically and can be used more long-term. Sometimes you have to dose up to get over a detox hump. This has been a counterintuitive learning curve for me as a practitioner but I’ve seen it work. As many of you know, tragedy struck our family this summer. We suffered devastating loss due to the Texas flood on the Fourth of July. The power of your prayer has gotten us through a very difficult time. This episode is a testament to the incredible way God designed prayer as a way for us to minister to one another. Like many of us, Sarah Kleiner has been around the diet block on her journey to get healthy. She’s been vegan; she’s been carnivore; she’s been a fitness instructor and - while she experienced some improvement over the years - there was still weight that wouldn’t budge, hormonal issues, and things that were off even though she was “ doing everything right”. Energy, vibration and frequency are words that often make Christians cringe and their red flags go up. They are often associated with new age or alternative practices that don’t align with who we are as Believers. While it is wise to be cautious and discerning, outright dismissal closes the door on learning about the way our Creator designed the universe and our bodies and how everything works together. The sound of His voice In The Beginning is the initial vibration that formed the universe, set energy in motion and remains embedded in all He has made. His Word is what holds Creation together. I hope this week’s episode inspires awe and insight so we can give glory to Whom glory is due. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. Cristal and I recently got on the trend train of experimenting with a Continuous Glucose Monitor to see how the carbs we eat affect blood sugar. CGMs have traditionally been a tool prescribed to people with diabetes to help manage blood sugar and insulin, but they have recently become readily available and accessible to anyone. It is FASCINATING to see how carbs affect people differently. Cristal and I talk about some of the surprising results we experienced (how apples spiked her blood sugar but Christmas Crack did not spike mine) and the many nuances that need to be considered like exercise, alcohol, fasting and sleep. On this week’s episode I’m walking you through the Jesus Take The Wheel Goals framework which helps you formulate your new year goals based on the different categories of health we work on in The Christian Health Club throughout the year including sunshine, water, grounding, real food and fasting, sleep/rest/sabbath, movement and mind management/stress regulation. Each night, the onset of darkness ushers in a cascade of hormones that help us detoxify, repair, manage metabolism, boost immunity and rejuvenate our entire system. They include hormones like melatonin, growth hormone, leptin, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and prolactin. These hormones are time-sensitive and require true darkness to fully operate. Growth hormone, for example, is supposed to have a big surge around midnight when you are already in slow-wave sleep (which means you’d have needed to go to sleep around 10). Growth hormone plays a role in our metabolic health and if you regularly miss that surge opportunity, it can compromise the way you utilize protein, fats and carbs. God turned the lights off for a reason and we need to too so that we can get to sleep and experience the full benefits of the way He designed our bodies to be well. Fellow podcaster Vanessa Spina has experimented a lot with her diet and macronutrient ratios over the years. She started out as a vegetarian but felt lethargic and, at 38% body fat, knew it wasn’t working for her. From there she incorporated intermittent fasting, then implemented a ketogenic diet (and became well known as @ketogenicgirl), then found a sweet spot with a high-protein ketogenic diet. Somewhat recently, she experimented with a higher carb approach based on the recommendations of some of the experts she has interviewed, but found that higher fat works better for her as an energy source than higher carb. In this week’s episode, Vanessa shares the strategy and reasoning behind her experimentation and reminds us that it is ok and encouraged to experiment with your diet to find what works best for you, despite what the research or experts say. She also shares a lot of valuable insight she has learned from interviewing some of the top experts in the world. One of the questions I get often is: what do you think about eating freshly milled wheat flour if you have an autoimmune condition? Most functional health practitioners recommend removing gluten as part of an autoimmune dietary plan (that’s what I’ve always advised as well). But unless someone has Celiac, is it necessary? I’ve been conflicted on how to advise people who have an autoimmune condition because is freshly milled flour the thing that’s going to make it worse or make it better? In Michal Grappe’s case, it made it better. In fact, it was the thing that completely erased lupus from her bloodwork. She used a long-term restrictive diet to successfully manage her Guillain-Barré syndrome, but it wasn’t helping to prevent or manage lupus. When she saw a video explaining the benefits of milling wheat, she didn’t feel like she had anything to lose by giving it a try. Nine months later, the lupus was no longer showing on her bloodwork, her husband’s arthritis had improved, her son’s warts went away and her daughter no longer had a scalp condition. When Jennifer Tucker’s daughter was diagnosed with an anxiety and panic disorder, she found herself facing her own struggle with anxiety. In a desperate moment in the hospital, Jenn found deep solace in breath prayer, a centuries-old practice that combines deep breathing and Scripture. This, along with another ancient approach called Lectio Divina, became tools that she used to navigate and care for her physical, mental and spiritual health. Even though she never dreamed of being an author, the Lord opened a door that led to publishing her books Breath As Prayer and Present In Prayer. The peptide world seemed to explode onto the scene with the popularity of GLP-1s (like Ozempic) for weight loss. Although my initial reaction was skeptical (great, another weight loss “magic bullet” that’s going to fail people in the end), I’ve learned that GLP-1s and other peptides have been used therapeutically for decades. Redox Potential is the measure of how easily you gain or lose electrons. The better you gain and hold onto electrons, the better your body can naturally rid itself of toxic and pathogenic material. This is a key to detoxification that nobody pays enough attention to. God made our bodies strong, resilient and capable of handling these offenses when we have plenty of cellular voltage. Parasites hate a negative charge! They don’t survive well in a high electron environment. As a boy Roudy was seen as a problem child, diagnosed with ADHD and kicked out of seven schools. God gave us Jesus to give us eternal life. He also gave us living water inside of our body to give us physical earthly life. In this week’s episode, Christian Health Practitioner Nicole Bergeland shares how insightful Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis has been in her personal health journey and for her clients. Jesus said that we are the salt of the earth and that we are made to be salty, to bring a distinct flavor into the world as followers of Christ. But it’s hard to be salty spiritually when we’re not salty physically! Salt is such a critical part of our physical well being that, we not only feel unwell when we don’t get enough salt, but we would die without enough salt in our body. Did you know our blood is similar to the ocean in salt content? And that you can’t get water into your cell without salt? Many people are perpetually dehydrated because they don’t have enough of this critical mineral in their body. In this week’s episode we’re diving into some of the science and nuance around fasting and how to make considerations based on your stage and season of life. Here are key points we cover: Eat with the sun and The Son. Eat within the daylight hours and eat with gratitude and glory to the Lord our Savior. Try to get morning sunlight in your eyes before you eat. Eat by 10am to help support muscle protein synthesis. This becomes more important as we age in order to help counteract age-related muscle loss.Eat within the first hour of waking to help restore leptin sensitivity.Variables like coffee and exercise while fasting depend a lot on your stress levels. Ultimately your choices are between you, your body and the Creator of your body. It’s always important to consider how we are serving the Lord in the stewardship of our bodies, how we are or aren’t honoring the needs OF our bodies, and how we need to be open to how those needs may change in the different seasons and stages of our lives. Sometimes we need a check in our spirit about letting our health goals become an idol.
