This week miiiiiight just be one of our best yet—I’m joined by the one and only Alexandra Madison for a truly unfiltered conversation on motherhood, marriage, life online, & more. As expected, Alex was open, vulnerable, and nothing short of amazing. She shares a behind-the-scenes look at life 7 months postpartum—from her breastfeeding journey to navigating pregnancy after loss, and how that experience shaped her perspective as a mom. We also get into what it’s like working with her husband Jon, plus their decision not to show their baby, Lucy, on social media (who knew Jon in a bow would be such a phenomenon). And of course, we had to dive into our unpopular mom opinions—aka “mompinions”—from co-sleeping to baby-led weaning and everything in between. This is a MUST-listen - real, honest, and chaotic in the best way!! Xoxo Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Hellooooo beautiful people! We’re back this week with another amazing guest episode featuring Certified Holistic Nutritionist (and fellow girl mom!) Sam Levin. We’re talking all things postpartum nutrition—how to eat well, feel good, and maybe even lose weight… all while breastfeeding (??). Sam shares her super inspiring journey—from climbing the corporate ladder to leaving it all behind to build her own thriving business for a more flexible life as a mom. She also opens up about her two weight loss journeys, including one while breastfeeding… because yes, apparently it is possible (news to me, LOL). We get into practical tips for navigating postpartum hunger, healthy meal and snack ideas for busy moms on the go, and how to approach weight loss in a way that actually feels sustainable. And of course, we talk mindset—because having a healthy relationship with food can feel extra hard postpartum… especially when you’re running on one brain cell and zero sleep. This episode is packed with honesty, vulnerability, and tangible tips for anyone trying to look and feel their best in their postpartum era. Xoxo 💕 Learn more about your ad choices. My girlies - this is super unhinged of me, but we're doing a Friday night episode!!! TGIF b*tches! (i'm tipsy off of 1 glass of wine) - This week we discuss my insane surgery, breastfeeding supply troubles, hiring an amazing nanny/Mary Poppins herself, and what to bring when you travel with your baby on an airplane! I love you guys!!! Xoxo Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Long Story Short, we have the one and only board-certified baddie (and pediatrician), Dr. Amanda Kravitz, answering alllll of our most pressing new-parent questions. We get into what it’s actually like being a pediatrician in today’s chaotic world, navigating different family dynamics (spoiler: mom is usually right), and yes… we’re talking vaccines. Dr. Kravitz breaks it all down in a way that’s clear, honest, and not fear-inducing. Then we play a little role-playing game where she teaches us exactly how to respond to those well-meaning but wildly annoying comments from friends and relatives when it comes to protecting your baby’s health. We also cover: – Baby sleep (how to actually get more of it) – Skin concerns like eczema + cradle cap – Sun safety tips for your little one – And so much more If you’re a new parent (or about to be), this episode is a must-listen. Hi my beautiful girlies. Today we have a fun little concept I invented where we talk about themes/lessons I’ve been noticing these past couple of months, but package it up in a fun little way by making all of them randomly start with the letter T (just go with it, k??). We talk about how it’s pointless to try to time things out perfectly, how you need to just get out and do sh*t with you baby, the importance of other mom friends, and SO MUCH more. Hiii my beautiful people - we're finally back!! Again, better late than never. We're getting into a rhythm, I promise, back to weekly VIDEO episodes every Wednesday so so soon. Let's just say I underestimated the lack of time i'd have in my postpartum stay-at-home-while-also-working-mom era. But don't fear, help is on the way!! I get super vulnerable in this episode about all things postpartum, including the massive identity shifts happening. We also chat about the positives of how motherhood has already changed me for the better in so many ways - yay! Love you all! xoxo Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Helloooo beautiful people!! We're back with another fabulous guest episode - I dragged my very pregnant third trimester bestie into my bed with me for this one. She's since given birth to an absolutely beautiful baby boy, but we recorded this during her final days of pregnancy. She gave us allll the tea on how she prepared for labor and how she has a "guy for everything", including two doulas and a night nurse. She also got super vulnerable with us about her feelings around her growing body during pregnancy, and how she's reframing her thinking around that. We also talked anxiety meds and postpartum intrusive thoughts, since that's just relatable for all of us these days. Whether you're pregnant, postpartum, or just a girlie who loves a good yap sesh - this one's for you!! Ok exciting news - we’re finally BACK and here to STAY. This week we talk about how two things can be true at the same time: your husband could be the most perfect love of your life who you’re genuinely obsessed with, but you might also want to kill him after you have a baby. And that’s OK!! We’re normalizing it by reading all your hilarious postpartum rage triggers and more. Love you guys!! Xoxo!! We’re back with another amazing episode with my longtime friend and colleague, the one and only Jessie Jolles!! Jessie is a comedian, actor, director, creator, and overall creative baddie. We talk all about the origins of her comedy career, her rise to fame, and then we of course get really deep (yes, there’s even some tears) as we go back into Jessie’s childhood (all the best comedians have trauma obviously). We then discuss her life mantra: Fancy For No Reason, and why wearing a ball gown to the post office is actually an act of self love. Be sure to follow Jessie at @jessiejolles, and follow us at @longstoryshortwithnicole! Xoxo Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Tamara is a longtime listener (and overall mom and business woman baddie) who reached out to me from the trenches of postpartum while quite literally nursing her 3-month old daughter, because she wanted to represent all the real city moms out there who are simply surviving (and sometimes even thriving). We chat all about her postpartum experience, being a mom to a toddler and newborn at the same time, exclusively breastfeeding while having to return back to the corporate world, the constant debate of moving out of the city, and much more. Whether you're a mom or not, this is yet another must-listen! Xoxo Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Another week, and still no baby!! We’re officially on baby watch, because I just know she’s coming any second now. This episode is filled with contractions, cramping, and chaos. How am I supposed to know when I’m actually going into labor?! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. In this episode, we debrief on the crazy old lady who harassed me for having my belly out, which inspired a fun little segment where you all submitted the craziest/most unhinged comments that have been said to you while pregnant (hint: it’s basically ALL about weight/bodies, ugh). I recount my attempt at having my husband give me a perineal massage, and chat all about the things we’re doing to try and prep for labor any second now. I then get into some fun AMA questions, and drop some HUGE name hints…. Love you all!!! The next couple episodes will be some fun ones that I’ve already recorded with guests that I KNOW you’ll fall in love with. Xoxo Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We’re going from dog parents to human parents, which is a huge adjustment for the entire household. This week, I sat down with animal communicator and psychic Nancy Mello (recommended to me by you all!) to find out what’s actually going on in your dog’s head when you bring a new baby home. The episode starts off with a quick snippet of our actual session with Louie x Nancy, where Louie was definitely not shy about making his demands and stating his many preferences. Then we get into the interview with Nancy where we chat about her fascinating background, how she actually communicates with animals, and some of her early success stories with clients. We then get into the convo we’ve all been waiting for, answering questions like “Does my dog know I’m pregnant?”, “How do I transition my pets into bringing home a baby?”, and “How do I make sure my baby and dog become lifelong best friends?” Whether you’re an overbearing dog mom like me or not, this one is a must listen!! Hellooo party people!!! Today's episode arrived a bit later than usual because we have a very special DWTS recap for you, with the one and only Abbey Bonadies, content creator and pop-culture enthusiast. We chat about Abbey's background as a corporate girlie turned content creator overnight, and she answers all our pressing entertainment questions, such as "Which Real Housewives franchise should we start with as a new watcher?" and "What should I be watching on maternity leave as a postpartum mom?" We then get into a very exciting DWTS recap and we have a LOT to say about this season thus far. Abbey's a seasoned dwts veteran who's been watching since day 1, so you're not gonna wanna miss this one. Hi my favs!! As I sit here writing this, It’s 1am and I’m suffering from pregnancy insomnia but I’m still SO exhausted. :) This episode is some much-needed one on one time, where I answer alllllll your AMA questions about pregnancy and IVF. We touch base on my current physical and mental state at a whopping 36 weeks pregnant, and sometimes you just need a good pregnancy cry (I didn’t in this episode, don’t worry). Am I scared to give birth? Excited? A lot of both?? We also go through my baby registry big ticket items (Like did I really need to get the artipoppe? Absolutely not but I’m delusional at this point!) We of course spend some time recapping my IVF journey and I do my best to give a little hope to anyone who might be going through it. 3 Hope you love this!! We have so many fun episodes coming up for you, so as always, stay tuned!! Xoxo Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Should I freeze my eggs?? Or should I be freezing embryos?! I’m about to start IVF - How TF should I even begin to prepare for the best possible outcome?! We ALL have so many questions about making babies. Dr. Lucky Sekhon has the answers to give us the peace of mind we didn’t know we needed until now. She’s a board-certified OBGYN, Reproductive Endocrinologist, Fertility Doctor, and an absolute pro at breaking down such a complicated topic for us to better understand (she's also just super chic while doing it all, which is such a flex.) We discuss key topics to help you understand your fertility, such as egg vs. embryo freezing, common causes for infertility, why your egg quality matters so much, and beyond. We also walk through the IVF process, breaking down everything from the egg stimulation phase, to the retrieval, to the various types of embryo transfers. Whether you’re a girlie in your 20s thinking about potentially freezing your eggs, a married woman who’s trying to conceive, or an IVF baddie going through it, this episode will give you the knowledge to feel empowered to make the best decisions for YOU and your family. I know I say this every week, but this episode is a banger. I start off by divulging the answers to the very pressing question I’ve been in the field tirelessly researching: Which bassinet should we be buying? We then get right into the episode featuring our brilliant guest, Lia Higgins aka @onelitmama_. Lia has strong opinions regarding just about every notion you think you know about parenting, and she isn’t afraid to cut through the BS. I promise you, you’ll get smarter just from listening to her speak. We chat about her experience leaving her job in big law to be a mom, how and why the corporate world isn’t always conducive for moms to rise through the ranks, and what would need to be in place for moms to actually succeed and oh idk, enjoy their personal lives too? We discuss the notion of “having it all” - wtf does it even mean, and is it even possible? Lia gets vulnerable and shares her experience with miscarriage and a traumatic birth, and how she bravely shared it with the world back when those topics most definitely weren’t being talked about enough. Whether you’re a mom or not, this episode is truly jam packed with so much fascinating and valuable info, you’re gonna love it. We're baaack for episode 3 with a guest that you all DEMANDED come on the pod - the one and only Callie Gullickson. Callie's booked and busy. She's a Peloton instructor, mother of (soon to be) two kids and one golden retriever, content creator, and now even an author of her upcoming book featuring her favorite delicious Mocktail recipes. Callie keeps it so real with us in this episode. We chat all about her current pregnancy, her motherhood journey so far, and how deals with having to travel for work and spend time away from her family. She even gets real about feeling more bonded to her dog than she did to her newborn at first (so damn relatable). She also gives us the tea on making big career moves and how to have the best perspective about life in general. We end with a game of "Unpopular MOMpinions" where we debate whether a night nurse is actually worth it, whether baby's need their bottles warmed or not, and more. You're gonna love it. Introducing the one and only, my wiser & ELDER sister, Jenna. Those who know her, love her, and those who don't yet - well you're in for a treat. Jenna basically invented hot mom energy, but keeps it SO real at the same time. She gives us many exclusives in this episode: from her exciting recent *enhancement*, to a peek behind the scenes of her pregnancy & postpartum experiences, and more. TW: She also opens up about suffering from a miscarriage, while sharing her positive mindset & how she leaned on friends for support. Despite the very real distractions we were facing while recording this (some of which you'll hear - sorry in advance, but hey that's showbiz baby!), you're gonna love this episode. It's jam-packed with hilarious & raw moments. Stay tuned until the end for an ADORABLE quick little segment with my 5 year old nephew, Callen (even though we'll never be recording an episode with kids in the house ever again!!). She's baaaaack! Welcome to Long Story Short - i'm thrilled you're here. I decided to f*ck around and launch a podcast while i'm in my third trimester, so buckle up baby (that reminds me, we have to install the new car seat this weekend). While recording this, i'm feeling slightly delirious coming off an exhausting week of volunteering at a grief camp, but it's just what I needed to finally get going on this thang. In this episode, you can expect to hear an update on my life, why I decided to launch this show, and what it'll be about (hint: everything :) because I couldn't stick to one niche if I tried.) Then we go into a recap of my first and second trimesters and how I can never look at the color butter yellow again, and the status of planning my upcoming baby shower. It's gonna be a good one, promise. Xoxo 3 Love you all. Email me for advice at [email protected], and follow @longstoryshortwithnicole on instagram! Learn more about your ad choices.
