When we think about healthy eating and looking after our bodies, it’s easy to become distracted by the world’s messages surrounding appearance, weight loss and unrealistic standards. But as Christians, our approach to health and nutrition should be rooted in something far deeper than the pursuit of an ideal body. In this episode of Hearts and Habits, we explore what Scripture teaches about our physical bodies and why caring for them matters from a biblical perspective. The Bible tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and that we have been bought with a price. Rather than viewing health through the lens of vanity or self-improvement, we can begin to see it as an act of stewardship and worship. Together, we’ll unpack what it means to honour God with our bodies and how our physical health can support the work that God has called us to do. Our bodies are not merely something to manage or change – they are vessels through which we serve others, raise families, fulfil our responsibilities and carry out God’s purposes in our daily lives. Drawing from passages such as Matthew 28:19 and 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, we’ll consider how developing healthy habits is not about striving for perfection or pursuing extreme discipline. Rather, it is about making faithful choices day by day and learning to align our lives with God’s design. If you’re seeking a Christian approach to health and nutrition, this episode offers encouragement and practical wisdom for creating sustainable habits that honour God. Whether you’re trying to improve your relationship with food, develop healthier routines or simply understand what the Bible says about caring for your body, this conversation will help you cultivate both healthy hearts and healthy habits. In this episode, we’ll explore: * Why Christians should care for their physical health. * What it means for the body to be a temple of the Holy Spirit. * Caring for our bodies as an act of stewardship and worship. * Pursuing health without guilt, shame or comparison. If you’ve ever wondered whether healthy living matters to God, or how to pursue wellness without becoming consumed by appearance or diet culture, this episode will encourage you to view health through the lens of Scripture and embrace habits that glorify God. I'll also explain how we need to: - Be disciplined in our dietary choices and healthy lifestyles - That knowing our identity helps up root our choices and discipline the right way - That leaning on discipline and creating new routines enables systems that are long-term. We know that it's important to look after our bodies, but how do we faithfully make healthy diet choices? And why do we need to keep an eye on our weight? What is the 'why' behind making these sustainable diet and lifestyle changes and why is it important? Let me know what you think, and if you have any questions about choosing healthier foods - foods that will positively impact your health. This is a public episode. I’ve been moved to speak about the daily battle we face when making healthy decisions for our diet, nutrition, health. It seems sometimes its a battle we can’t face - but with God’s help we can move slowly forward to our goal. That sometimes it might seem so slow, so painfully slow, but keeping our eyes on Jesus and the reason we need to take care of our bodies, with the Holy Spirit’s help we can get there.
