School graduation celebrations have gotten completely out of control!! The founder of Feeding Our Future was sentenced to over 41 years (500 months) for her role in the sprawling fraud scheme on Thursday morning. Aimee Bock, 45, was convicted on all counts following a more than six-week federal jury trial last year. Prosecutors asked the judge to sentence Bock to 50 years in prison, while her attorney asked for either time served or a maximum of 37 months. The former prosecution team, Joe Thompson, Harry Jacobs, Matthew Ebert and Daniel Bobier, attended the sentencing. Joining them were law enforcement who worked on the case, and even several jurors from the six-week trial. Top federal officials on Thursday announced prosecutions against 15 defendants accused of defrauding government services. Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald, the head of the Department of Justice’s Fraud Enforcement Division, said the charges brought this week targeted “shocking” schemes that reaped $90 million in taxpayer funds. Blackstone, the world’s largest private owner of data centers, will invest $5 billion in equity capital in a new artificial intelligence infrastructure company with Google, the New York-based asset management firm announced Monday. Google will supply the new U.S.-based company with its tensor processing units — chips purpose-built for processing artificial intelligence computations — bringing the first 500 megawatts of compute capacity online by 2027, with “plans to scale significantly over time,” Blackstone said in a statement. “This new company has enormous potential as it helps to meet the unprecedented demand for compute,” Jon Gray, President and COO of Blackstone, said in the statement. The unnamed company will be helmed by Benjamin Treynor Sloss, who most recently served as Google’s chief programs officer. A Google spokesperson declined to comment on whether Google would retain a direct leadership role in it. The Wall Street Journal, which first reported on the joint venture before Blackstone’s official statement, said the private equity giant would hold a majority stake, citing sources familiar with the matter. Blackstone did not disclose the venture’s ownership structure in its statement, and did not respond to CNBC’s request for comment by publication time. The Journal also reported that the joint venture has already identified likely data center locations, some of which are under construction. Blackstone, which manages more than $1.3 trillion in assets, has invested aggressively across the AI ecosystem and, earlier this month, established a similar venture with Anthropic. Shares of Alphabet and Blackstone rose by about 1% in pre-market trading on Tuesday. Join us as we sit down with Kirsten Swanson, a 5 Eyewitness News investigative reporter. Kirsten walks through the newly obtained data showing DHS paid bonuses to program staff and eligibility specialists in the Housing Stabilization Services program and beyond, amid exploding Medicaid spending and ongoing fraud concerns. Also joining the conversation is DHS whistleblower Faye Bernstein, a 20-year veteran of the agency who has faced retaliation for sounding the alarm on fraud risks years ago. Faye shares her unfiltered take on the recent revelations of DHS handing out bonuses to staff overseeing fraud-riddled programs even as massive waste, improper payments, and red flags piled up. She explains why she believes some of these bonuses went to people who shouldn't have received them and what it says about priorities at the agency. From whistleblower retaliation to taxpayer dollars vanishing into questionable awards, this episode pulls back the curtain on how Minnesota's largest agency has handled (or mishandled) oversight during a time of record fraud losses. From The Babylon Bee "We Asked AI To Show America Without Republicans" Minnesota sent $67 million to 9 daycare centers raided by federal agents, records show. Minnesota paid more than $67 million in public child care subsidies over the past eight years to nine day care providers raided by federal authorities last week as part of a sweeping fraud investigation, according to state data obtained by 5 INVESTIGATES. The payments flowed through the state’s Child Care Assistance Program, known as CCAP, which helps low-income families cover the cost of child care. The feds have not filed charges, and investigators have not said how much, if any, of the money paid to those providers may have been fraudulently obtained. Still, the records show dramatic financial growth at the nine centers, while the number of kids they served stayed relatively flat. Over the last two years alone, state payments to the nine providers more than doubled, rising from about $8 million in 2023 to more than $16 million in 2025, according to the data. A California winery co-owned by Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, has shut its doors for good amid scrutiny of the congresswoman’s family wealth. The winery ceased business operations on April 4, two months after Republicans sent a letter demanding answers into the discrepancies between Omar’s congressional financial disclosures for 2024 and the one she filed just one year earlier, according to California business records. In a February letter to Mynett, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) said financial disclosures filed by his wife Omar “show eStCru LLC and Rose Lake Capital LLC, which you hold ownership stakes in, went from being worth as much as $51,000 in 2023 to as much as $30 million in 2024.” The United States has crossed a grim threshold: The national debt now exceeds the size of the entire American economy. A sad day in the world of music in Minneapolis as.......The Basilica Block Party is no more. The Basilica Block Party took last year off, and the early summer music festival isn’t coming back. Last year, officials had said that they were looking forward to a bright future in 2026, but that is not to be. “The final Block Party was held in 2024, concluding an incredible run and leaving a lasting legacy in our community,” a statement on the event’s website reads. “We are deeply grateful for the fans, the artists, and the support shown for our beloved Basilica.” Started in 1995, the major fundraiser for the Basilica of St. Mary, the historic downtown Minneapolis church, drew a wide mix of local and national acts in its 30-year history. Artists that took the stage included Weezer, Ryan Adams, Brandi Carlile, Goo Goo Dolls, Counting Crows and the Jayhawks. Thousands attended the two-day event held outside the church, although the 2024 festival was held at Boom Island Park. This summer, the basilica is undergoing a $45 million restoration. Minneapolis considers first downtown indoor playground for winter play. Minneapolis city planners are considering an indoor playground downtown as they survey residents on whether the idea would bring more families to the area. The city is in the early stages of the idea and is asking residents about parking, security and spending habits. City planners are also asking about different parts of downtown as they study whether an indoor playground makes sense. “Where are you supposed to go in the winter… There’s not too many places to take kids to play,” said Minneapolis resident Isabella Reichert, who works as a nanny. Places like that are already common in suburbs, including Edina and Eagan, but this would be a first in Minneapolis. Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier has confirmed LIV Golf’s financial backing from the Public Investment Fund (PIF) will come to an end after the 2026 season, delivering the clearest indication yet that the Saudi-funded breakaway league faces an uncertain future beyond next year. Baier, citing two sources with direct knowledge of the situation, revealed that while the PIF will continue to fund LIV Golf through the remainder of the 2026 campaign, its long-term financial commitment is set to be withdrawn as part of a broader shift in priorities. The funding through 2026 is expected to cover all major operational aspects of the league, including player contracts, television agreements and tournament staging. Minnesotans could pay upward of $20 billion every year in a few decades if the state doesn’t adapt to climate change, according to a new study from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The Legislature-mandated report, which was released Monday, March 16, says the costs of not adapting to the warming climate are higher than if the state began to make necessary changes. Minnesota has seen heavier rainfall, smokier air and warmer summers in recent years as a result of climate change, according to the report. “Investing in adaptation reduces costly risks to the state and its residents,” the report said. If the state invests more in climate projects, it could cost $2.5 billion to $4.1 billion annually, considerably less than what the long-term negative effects are expected to cost Minnesota. Expenses for failure to adapt could balloon up to $57 billion by 2070. After a bill to lower license tab fees failed in the Minnesota House transportation committee, the cost is unlikely to go down anytime soon. In 2023, the legislature increased the tax rate for license tab fees, while at the same time dramatically slowing the rate of depreciation, so you pay a higher rate on an artificially high valuation on your vehicle. There’s a bill in the house to lower the license tab tax rate from 1.575% of your vehicle’s value to 1.285%, while also speeding up the depreciation of your car. President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he’s replacing Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem with a Republican U.S. senator from Oklahoma. Trump revealed his decision in a post on Truth Social, saying Sen. Markwayne Mullin will take over on March 31. “The current Secretary, Kristi Noem, who has served us well, and has had numerous and spectacular results (especially on the Border!), will be moving to be Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere we are announcing on Saturday in Doral, Florida. I thank Kristi for her service at ‘Homeland,'” Trump wrote. The president’s announcement comes two days after Noem faced a grilling on Capitol Hill from both GOP members and Democrats. The Lumber Exchange building in Minneapolis is set to change hands for a dollar this week, going to Kristi Oman—the same person who two years ago bought the Kickernick Building, another old downtown property, and transformed it into a hub for artists. That, or something like it, is likely to be the fate of the 12-story Lumber Exchange building. In chats with Twin Cities Business, Oman mentioned she wants to keep the roughly 140-year-old, 225,569-square-foot space commercial (rather than making residencies out of it), converting it for artists and folks in the fashion industry. The official sale price will be $20,001, Oman says. In addition to the $1 price tag, she must pay a $20,000 fee for taking the property off auction. The U.S. wins their first gold medal in Men's hockey since the Miracle On Ice in 1980 Exactly 46 years after the "Miracle on Ice" Lake Placid Games, the U.S. men's hockey team brought home another Olympic gold medal. Team USA defeated Canada 2-1 in overtime on Sunday to secure the third gold medal in American history at the Olympics. “I hope this will inspire kids to put this jersey on someday, as it’s the best feeling in the world," Dylan Larkin said after the win. "What we just did, nothing will ever match this.” Matt Boldy got on the board for Team USA just six minutes into the game to give the United States an early lead. Canadian defenseman Cale Makar scored the equalizer with 1:44 left in second period to tie the game at one apiece going into the second intermission. But it was Connor Hellebuyck, who played out of his mind the entire game, who would prove to the deciding factor in the final. The Winnipeg Jets goalie put on a highlight-reel performance that will go down in hockey history. "It was an all-time performance from a superstar at his position," Matthew Tkachuk said. "It's going to go down as one of the best performances of all time. It has to. All the great United States goaltending performances you want to talk about, that's right up there. If we don't have him, we don't win.” Hellebuyck saved 41 shots in the game and made it virtually impossible for Canada to break through to the back of the net. "It's a dream come true," Hellebuyck said after the game. "I love this group, we've had so much fun over here, we've grinded, we've battled, this is some of the best and most fun hockey I've ever played." NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced his brand new $127 Billion dollar annual budget, it was nice knowing you New York....... Mayor Zohran Mamdani unveiled a record $127 billion budget Tuesday — with an ultimatum to Albany to tax the rich or he’ll slap the Big Apple with a massive property tax hike. The democratic socialist framed his proposal — which would also include pulling from the city’s $10 billion rainy day fund — as a “last resort” to balance the budget if Gov. Kathy Hochul doesn’t agree to increase taxes on millionaires. “I do not want to raise property taxes,” Mamdani said of his preliminary budget plan, which would hike property taxes 9.5% to raise an additional $3.7 billion in the next fiscal year. “When faced with this crisis, the question is who should pay these taxes? I believe that it should be the wealthiest New Yorkers, the most profitable corporations. I believe that they can afford to pay a little bit more,” Mamdani said. Bush and unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as a United States Attorney. Paulose's legal career began in 1997 when she worked as a law clerk under Judge James B. Loken of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She then worked as a trial attorney in the Attorney General's Honors Program from 1998 to 1999. There, she prosecuted violations of the federal civil rights laws in the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division. From 1999 until 2002, she worked as an Assistant United States Attorney. She first-chaired many trials in federal district court. She also briefed and argued many appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Cases involved narcotics, violent crime, economic crime. Jury trial and Eighth circuit appellate highlights: precedent-setting detention of suspect based on economic threat alone; precedent-setting appellate work rejecting expansion of alien criminal defendants' claims of rights under Vienna Convention. She worked in private practice after 2002 with the Williams & Connolly law firm in Washington D.C. until 2003, where her work focused on health care litigation and business. She was with the Dorsey & Whitney law firm in Minneapolis from 2003 until December 2005. Work included defense of health care providers, commercial litigation, and constitutional advocacy. Paulose was appointed as the United States Attorney for the District of Minnesota in August 2006 and remained in that position until November 2007. Humanity is closer to destroying itself, according to atomic scientists who revealed on Tuesday that the famous “Doomsday Clock” was set at 85 seconds to midnight — the closest it has been in the nearly 80-year history of the clock. The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, a science-oriented advocacy group, made the announcement on Tuesday, metaphorically rating how close humankind is to annihilating itself with human-made advancements. Midnight represents the point at which humans will have made Earth unlivable. “It is the determination of the bulletin’s science and security board that humanity has not made sufficient progress on the existential risks that endanger us all. We thus move the clock forward,” said Alexandra Bell, president and CEO of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. “The risks we face from nuclear weapons, climate change and disruptive technologies are all growing. Every second counts and we are running out of time. It is a hard truth, but this is our reality.” See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

An interesting immigration statistical comparison between Trump in 2025 and Obama in 2012. Citing the limited resources available for immigration enforcement and the impossibility of deporting 11 million undocumented people, the Obama administration sought to prioritize the use of the agency’s enforcement personnel, detention space, and removal assets. Noting that ICE could only remove an estimated 400,000 undocumented immigrants a year at most, representing less than 4% of the undocumented population in the U.S. during that time, the administration sought to channel limited resources towards more urgent threats. In a set of 2010 and 2011 memoranda from then-U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John Morton, the Obama administration created three categories of undocumented immigrants that would be prioritized for arrest and deportation. The first priority consisted of undocumented immigrants who posed a threat to national security or public safety, including those engaged in or suspected of terrorism or espionage, those convicted of a crime or possessing outstanding criminal warrants, or those who participated in organized criminal gang activity. Within this priority category, ICE would draw distinctions based on the severity of convictions: level 1 offenders were convicted of aggravated felonies, level 2 offenders were convicted of any felony, and level 3 offenders were convicted of a misdemeanor. Former ICE agent Eric O'Denius joins the show today to discuss the presence of agents here in the Twin Cities. O’Denius, 51-years-old, worked as a deportation officer for U.S. Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement for twenty-four years. Since retiring in 2021, he says there’s been a change in how agents are interacting with the public. O’Denius says during his tenure, if ICE officers encountered push-back in the field, they might leave and return, try to negotiate, and or get a criminal warrant. Why exactly are we organizing an ICE out on Friday and shutting down businesses in the Twin Cities? ICE operations and protests have led to event cancellations and business closures in the Twin Cities, affecting the local economy and daily life. Snowboarders were expected to fill Minneapolis on Saturday, but the event was canceled. Comedy star John Mulaney also canceled three nights at the Armory due to the presence of ICE agents. “Commerce and business doesn’t do well when there’s uncertainty,” said Adam Duininck, president and CEO of the Minneapolis Downtown Council. Duininck said restaurants are hit hardest, with closures not seen since 2020. They are still counting the temporary closures, which are definitely in the dozens. Kristi Noem calls out Tim Walz and Jacob Frey over the ambush of a Federal Agent last night in Minneapolis. U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials say the shooting happened just before 7 p.m. after federal law enforcement tried to conduct a traffic stop in Minneapolis. The subject of the traffic stop was an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela, DHS said. A DHS spokesperson said the subject of the traffic stop tried to run away from law enforcement before agents caught up with him, and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, two people came out of a nearby apartment and hit the law enforcement agent with a snow shovel and broom handle, according to DHS officials. The initial man involved in the traffic stop then got away from federal law enforcement and allegedly began hitting the agent, a DHS spokesperson said. The agent then fired his weapon and hit the man in the leg. All three people involved ran into a nearby apartment and barricaded themselves inside, DHS officials said. During a later press conference, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated that their department received a 911 call at around 6:51 p.m. about the shooting.
