But it wasn’t until Angela called 911 to report that she had been sexually assaulted and that Michelle was responsible for setting it up, that Michelle Hadley was arrested and sent to jail. The only problem was Michelle wasn’t behind the emails, or the alleged plot to have Angela sexually assaulted. She’d been set up by Ian and Angela. The autopsy was inconclusive, but did reveal David had consumed toxic mushrooms, just not the lethal kind. Detectives pieced together a case against David’s widow, Katrina Fouts, accusing her of devising an elaborate plot to kill her husband with the help of her friend, retired police officer Terry Hopkins. The two were charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. While awaiting trial, Terry told investigators he’d strangled David. He died a few months later. Blayne Alexander sits down with Andrea Canning to discuss her latest episode, “Slow Burn.” In November 2018, 911 operators in Colts Neck, New Jersey, received reports of a house engulfed in flames. When first responders arrived, they discovered the bodies of Keith Caneiro, his wife, Jennifer, and their two children. Investigators soon determined the family had been killed before the house was set on fire. Just hours earlier, in a neighboring town, authorities responded to another house fire, this time at the home of Keith’s older brother, Paul. As detectives pieced together the evidence, they uncovered the truth –  Paul had murdered his brother’s family, and set fire to both homes in an attempt to conceal his crimes and misdirect authorities. Andrea and Blayne discuss how the murders affected the Colts Neck community, and examine the growing tension between the two brothers in the years leading up to the killings. Blayne Alexander sits down with Josh Mankiewicz to discuss his episode, “Deadly Detour.” In 2016,  Atlanta power couple Diane and Tex McIver were driving home with a friend when Tex’s gun went off and fatally shot Diane through the passenger seat. Tex said the gun went off accidentally, but investigators disagreed. They believed Tex McIver intentionally pulled the trigger to kill his wife and inherit her money. Tex went to trial in 2018, where he was convicted of felony murder and sentenced to life in prison. Then, in 2022, the Georgia Supreme Court overturned the verdict. Tex pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, and in 2025 was released from prison on parole. Josh talks about what it was like to drive the fatal route with the McIvers’ friend, Dani Jo, and Blayne describes her days as a local reporter in Atlanta, covering some of the same lawyers who worked on the case. In 2009 --  after two juries deadlocked -- security guard Raymond Lee Jennings was convicted of her murder at a third trial. But everything changed in 2015 when a Dateline viewer saw the story and vowed to prove Jennings's innocence. The conviction was overturned by a judge and Jennings was released after more than a decade in prison.
