53-year-old Andrew Lukehart is scheduled to die by lethal injection tonight at 6pm ET for the murder of his girlfriend’s 5 month old daughter. 44-year-old tennis legend Serena Williams is getting back on the grass! Williams announced today she will be returning to tennis one week from today on June 8th at the HSBC Championships in London, considered a warm up to Wimbledon. She will be playing doubles with partner 19-year-old Victoria Mboko from Canada. Williams credits GLP-1 weight loss drugs for allowing her comeback, saying losing the weight, eased the joint pain that forced her to stop playing competitively four years ago. Jury selection is underway for 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony who is facing life in prison for the stabbing death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a track meet in Texas last year. Extra security is in place at the courthouse and there is a strict electronic gag for members of the media given all the racial tensions that have erupted in the aftermath of the murder. The name Graham Platner has been trending all weekend after his wife of 3 years posted a video defending her husband.  Platner is ahead in the polls, hoping to beat incumbent Maine Senator Susan Collins come November. We saw both “Backrooms” and “Obsession” over the past two weekends and were blown away by the not only the movies themselves, but by just how many other people turned out to see them.  “Obsession” continues to rise in its third week, a never before seen phenomenon. While “Backrooms” blew away the competition, bringing in a record breaking box office number by the youngest director in movie history. Here we go again, but this time, an islander who used the n-word on newly resurfaced social media posts is being removed before we even meet her. Two videos from 25-year-old Vasana Montgomery have been circulated where she is seen saying the n-word playing a video game and rapping to a song in the car. Last season, it was Yulissa Escobar who was kicked off after the first episode when videos of her using the racial slur were discovered. It’s a heinous story that shocked the New York community, 34-year-old Erin Merdy drowned her 7, 4 and 3 month old children in the Atlantic Ocean. Merdy left their bodies along the Coney Island shoreline where it took authorities hours to find them. A judge showed leniency to Merdy, going against prosecutors who wanted her sentenced to life without parole. A federal judge has ruled against the Trump administration, ordering officials to remove Trump’s name from the building within two weeks. A judge gave 52-year-old Shannon O’Connor the maximum sentence possible after the California mom was found guilty of more than 4 dozen felony counts. O’Connor cried openly in court as victims and their parents stepped forward to describe the lasting trauma she caused for plying teens with drinks and egging on non-consensual sex in her home. On Thursday, CBS News announced three senior level women with “60 Minutes” were out of a job.  First, the show’s executive producer, Tanya Simon, daughter of legendary reporter Bob Simon, was fired and replaced by a technology columnist who has never worked in broadcast news. The concert series announced to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary is being widely mocked online. All of the artists on the list haven’t had a hit song in decades, and to make matters worse, at least three of the named acts have already announced they will now, NOT be performing. Hawaiian police are asking for help tracking down a 36-year-old man they say is armed and extremely dangerous. Police say Jacob Daniel Baker murdered 3 elderly men over a 2 day killing spree in the Puna area of the Big Island. U.S. investigators are asking Bahamian authorities for permission to search a new area for missing Michigan mom, Lynette Hooker. Authorities say GPS data from Brian Hooker’s device has revealed he wasn’t where he said he was the night he told police his wife fell overboard in rough seas. A Florida judge decided to allow 16-year-old Timothy Hudson, accused of raping and murdering his step-sister Anna Kepner on a cruise ship last fall, to remain free with family members until his scheduled trial this fall. Prosecutors implored the judge to place Hudson in custody, questioning whether it would take a second murder before the judge deemed the teen dangerous. What an inspiration: 50-year-old Dr. Shauna Burke just became the first woman with stage 4, incurable breast cancer to summit Mount Everest.  It took Burke 12 months of training, and 5 weeks to make it to the top. Burke has already had months of chemotherapy and continued her drug therapy as she made her way up the mountain, where she is conducting research on the effects of exercise and oxygen deprivation on cancer cells. Police believe they have finally solved a 34-year-old cold case out of Kentucky.  23-year-old Anna Lee Manning went missing in November of 1992. Late last week her husband and mother-in-law were arrested and charged with her murder. And just this week, police found skeletal remains in a shallow grave on Manning’s mother-in-law’s 5 acre property. New Jersey congressman, 57-year-old Tom Kean Jr. is up for reelection this year, but neither his constituents, nor his colleagues have laid eyes on him since early March. His staff and father, former New Jersey Governor Tom Kean Sr., have only referenced that the congressman is “addressing a personal health matter.” Just last week, a local New Jersey reporter said he spoke to the Congressman by phone, where Kean confirmed he is still running for re-election. 45-year-old Jonathan Andic is speaking out and defending himself exactly one week after he was arrested for suspicion of murdering his father, 71-year-old Mango founder, Isak Andic. Laos officials believe the 7 villagers trapped in a cave while searching for gold are still alive, as day 7 of rescue operations continue despite torrential rain in the area. Police found both 79-year-old Karen Whitaker and 80-year-old Donald Whitaker dead in their California home in a suspected murder-suicide. Death row inmate Tony Carruthers was scheduled to die by lethal injection this morning in Tennessee. The execution was initially delayed as officials awaited the Supreme Court’s decision on an ACLU emergency filing asking for a stay of execution to test DNA from the case.  Once SCOTUS denied the request, medical personnel spent an hour and a half looking for a suitable vein for a backup line and could not find one.  Officials then called off the execution and as we recorded this episode, the Governor issued a reprieve for Carruthers for one year. A Virginia judge shocked the courtroom, and the woman charged with 8 counts of felony child neglect, by dismissing all charges against former assistant principal, Dr. Ebony Parker.  The prosecution rested its case after calling dozens of witnesses, including the first grade teacher who survived a bullet wound to the chest, maintaining that Parker failed to act appropriately after being warned that a 6-year-old student brought a loaded gun to school. It was a wild day in court for the trial of former assistant principal Dr. Ebony Parker. It was a powerful and emotional day in a New Jersey courtroom as family members asked a judge to impose the maximum sentence for 59-year-old Paul Caneiro. Caneiro was convicted of brutally murdering his own brother, sister-in-law, 11-year-old nephew and 8-year-old niece out of greed and jealousy. We are learning more details about Monday’s deadly shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego.  The mother of the 17-year-old suspect alerted police two hours before the attack that her son was missing, suicidal and took her car and several guns. The state of Oklahoma has just executed 52-year-old Raymond Eugene Johnson for the 2007 brutal murders of his ex girlfriend and her infant daughter. During last month’s clemency hearing, Johnson apologized to the family of 24-year-old Brooke Whitaker and her 7 month old baby girl Kya for beating Whitaker and then setting her and her baby on fire in their Tulsa home. Death penalty opponents are waiting to see if Texas will proceed with what they say would be an unconstitutional execution. Texas’ Attorney General has appealed to the nation’s highest court to lift a stay on Edward Busby’s scheduled execution for today. There are reports that Texas officials plan to move forward with the execution despite a federal appellate court ruling last week that put a temporary hold on it pending a Supreme Court decision on a separate case. The issue at hand, whether or not Edward Busby is intellectually disabled, which would make him ineligible for the death penalty. 28-year-old Dalton Eatherly who goes by “Chud the Builder” and livestreams himself saying racially derogatory statements to black people in public settings was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Police say Eatherly shot a man following an altercation outside a Tennessee courthouse, and accidentally shot himself in the arm in the process. Eatherly has been trying to get social media attention by taking video of himself using racial slurs against black people, challenging them to fight him. A Utah judge gave 35-year-old Kouri Richins the harshest sentence possible following an emotional day of victim impact statements. In court, we heard directly from Richins’ sons who each wrote statements to the court, asking the judge to make sure their mom never gets out of prison. In a unanimous decision, the South Carolina Supreme Court has overturned Alex Murdaugh’s 2023 convictions of murdering his wife and son and ordered a new trial. The justices wrote they had no choice but to make their ruling because the county clerk of court, Rebecca Hill improperly influenced the jury at trial, by suggesting they could not trust Murdaugh’s testimony. South Carolina’s attorney general has vowed to aggressively seek to retry Murdaugh as soon as possible. The grief author mom of three who was convicted of poisoning her husband with five times the lethal dose of fentanyl, will be sentenced later today in Utah. As of this morning, all of the hantavirus cruise ship passengers are off the ship and being monitored by their respective countries. The virus that was once isolated to the tip of Argentina has now journeyed with infected passengers to the United States, the Netherlands, Britain, Germany, France, Switzerland and Spain. 18 passengers are being closely monitored in two locations here in the U.S at facilities in Nebraska and Georgia. It’s unclear how long these potentially exposed passengers will be quarantined, but scientists are highly encouraging them to isolate for the full 42 day incubation period. A Texas man who cut off his ankle monitor and fled weeks before his capital murder trial, was in an Italian courtroom today. 40-year-old Lee Gilley was apprehended while trying to enter Milan with a forged Belgian passport that allowed him to flee Texas. 70-year-old former revered spiritual leader Daniel Savala pleaded guilty Thursday for a “pattern of sexual exploitation involving multiple victims over time.” A number of his victims crowded the courtroom yesterday to give victim impact statements. A shocking development overnight, ultra low cost carrier, Spirit Airlines, has completely shut down. Its website tells customers not to go to the airport, its customer service is shuttered and 17 thousand employees are waking up with no job. A California judge has refused to review new evidence that the L.A. Innocence Project and Scott Peterson’s attorneys say will exonerate him. Peterson’s defense team says they will take their fight further, and plan to appeal to a higher court. The LAIP says they have conducted more than 50 interviews with witnesses who have information that will shed light on what really happened, as well as new scientific evidence that jurors were not able to hear during his trial. A Federal grand jury has returned an indictment against Former FBI Director James Comey over an instagram photo showing a seashell formation on the beach. An investigation is underway following a mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana early this morning that left 8 children dead.
