You’ve seen the Hollywood version of the Red Sea parting, but do you know the spiritual reason God led Israel into a dead end? Sometimes the "wrong direction" in the eyes of the world is the only way to see the "salvation of the Lord." Summary: In this deep dive into Exodus 14–18, we follow Israel out of Egypt and into the refining fires of the wilderness. We explore how Jehovah transforms a group of former slaves into a covenant people through trials of hunger, thirst, and war. The Red Sea Crossing: We analyze why God told Israel to "stand still" and see His power, and how the cloud that gave light to Israel was darkness to the Egyptians. The Wilderness of Sin: We address the "murmuring" of Israel and the miracle of Manna. We learn that God provides "daily bread" to teach us daily dependence on Him. Water from the Rock: We look at the symbolism of the smitten rock at Rephidim and how it points directly to the Living Water offered by Jesus Christ. Sustaining the Prophet: We study the battle with Amalek and the vital role of Aaron and Hur in holding up Moses’ hands. We discuss how "sustaining" our leaders is an active, physical labor. The Wisdom of Jethro: We conclude with the organizational breakthrough in Exodus 18. Jethro teaches Moses (and us) that "this thing is too heavy for thee," showing the power of delegation and shared responsibility in the kingdom of God. Call-to-Action: Are you currently facing a "Red Sea" with Pharaoh’s army behind you and nowhere to go? How has the Lord provided "manna" for you during a lean season of your life? Pharaoh said, "I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go." He was about to receive a masterclass in who Jehovah really is. But the real question isn't whether Pharaoh would let go—it's whether we are willing to let go of our own "Egypt." Summary: In this episode, we dive into the heart of the Exodus story (chapters 7–13). We move beyond the cinematic spectacles to find the deep, personal doctrine of repentance and redemption hidden within the plagues and the Passover. The War of the Gods: We analyze how each of the ten plagues was a specific "judgment against all the gods of Egypt," proving that Jehovah stands supreme over the Nile, the sun, and even life itself. The Hardening of the Heart: We clarify the JST corrections to the text—God didn't take away Pharaoh's agency; Pharaoh hardened his own heart, choosing pride over the "finger of God." Pharaoh’s "Negotiations": We look at the four ways Pharaoh tried to compromise with Moses—and why "partial obedience" is just another form of bondage. The Passover Lamb: We explore the meticulous requirements of the Passover and how every element—the unblemished lamb, the bitter herbs, and the blood on the doorposts—points directly to the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Leaving Egypt for Good: We discuss the importance of not "leaving a forwarding address" for our sins. True deliverance requires us to go into the wilderness with no intention of looking back. Call-to-Action: Are there "shallow promises" you’ve made to the Lord that you keep falling back on when the pressure is off? How can the "Blood of the Lamb" help you fully exit your Egypt this week? Let’s talk about it in the comments. To stay "Unshaken" as we cross the Red Sea next week, please like, subscribe, and share this video! What do you do when your "Promised Land" feels like a distant memory and your current reality feels like a slave pit? Moses found the answer in a bush that burned but was not consumed—and that same fire is available to help you break free today. Summary: In this episode, we begin the book of Exodus (chapters 1–6). We move from the family intimacy of Genesis to the national deliverance of Israel, uncovering profound patterns of how God remembers His covenants and empowers the "weak things of the earth." The Problem of Forgetting: We explore the danger of a generation that "knew not Joseph" and how societal amnesia leads to bondage. Courage in the Shadows: We highlight the "deliverers before the Deliverer"—Shiphrah, Puah, Jochebed, and Miriam—who chose to fear God more than Pharaoh. The Five Excuses: We break down Moses' deep feelings of inadequacy. From "Who am I?" to "I am slow of speech," we see how God compensates for our weaknesses with His presence. The Sacred Name: We dive into the revelation of "I AM," exploring the transition from knowing God as the "Almighty" to knowing Him as the eternal, self-existent Jehovah who is "at hand." Bricks Without Straw: We discuss the "Exodus Paradox"—why things often get harder right after we decide to follow God's will—and how to find the "spiritual straw" to keep going. Call-to-Action: Which of Moses' excuses do you find yourself using most often? How has the Lord answered those fears in your own life? Let’s strengthen each other in the comments. Theology calls it "Good Friday," but for the disciples standing at the foot of the cross, it was anything but good. It was horrific, silent, and seemingly final. If you are in a season where your life feels like a "Mourning Friday," this episode is for you. Summary: In this special study on the Passion of Jesus Christ, we explore why we must endure the "Not-So-Good" moments of Friday to truly appreciate the victory of Sunday. We dive into the "Stations of the Cross" and the necessity of honest lamentation in the life of a believer. The Theology of "Good": We discuss how a day of horrific suffering became "salvifically good," crushing the head of the serpent even as he bruised the heel of the Savior. Permission to Lament: We look at the "canonized permission to feel" found in the Old Testament and why suppressing emotion leads to spiritual alienation. The German "Karfreitag": We explore the concept of "Sorrowful Friday" and how acknowledging the "sting of death" isn't a lack of faith—it's evidence of the human condition. Joy vs. Saccharine: We prove the contraries of Joy and Sorrow, showing how sorrow keeps our joy from becoming superficial or "saccharine sweet". The Gift of a Broken Heart: We conclude with the idea that a broken heart isn't a pathology to be fixed, but a state of permeability—cracks that finally allow the Light to get in. Call-to-Action: Are you trying to rush toward Sunday morning because Friday is too painful to sit in? How has a "broken heart" allowed you to feel the Savior's love more deeply? Let’s share our "Not-So-Good Friday" experiences in the comments. To stay "Unshaken" even when the world is dark, please like, subscribe, and share this video.
Joseph’s brothers thought they had buried their secret in a pit decades ago. But when a global famine drives them to the feet of the most powerful man in Egypt, they discover that while you can hide from your past, you can't hide from God’s plan for your redemption. Summary: In this final episode on the book of Genesis, we cover chapters 42–50. We witness the emotional climax of the Joseph saga and discover how one man’s integrity provided salvation for the entire House of Israel. The Test of Character: We analyze why Joseph was so "hard" on his brothers at first. It wasn't revenge; it was a carefully designed test to see if they had truly repented of their treatment of him. The Transformation of Judah: We look at the stunning moment Judah offers himself as a slave to save Benjamin—becoming a "surety" for his brother and a powerful type of Jesus Christ. Reconciliation and Grace: We explore Joseph's perspective: "God did send me before you to preserve life." We learn how to move past bitterness by seeing the "big picture" of God’s providence. The Blessings of Israel: We dive into Genesis 49, where Jacob blesses his twelve sons. We discuss the unique roles of the different tribes and the specific promises given to the "fruitful bough" of Joseph. The Prophetic Connection: We conclude with the Joseph Smith Translation of Genesis 50, uncovering the ancient prophecy of a "choice seer" who would be named after his father and bring God’s people to salvation in the last days. Call-to-Action: Joseph told his brothers, "Am I in the place of God?" when they feared his retaliation. Is there someone you need to release from the "prison" of your resentment? He was the favorite son, destined for greatness, until his own brothers stripped him of his coat and sold him into slavery. If you’ve ever felt betrayed by those closest to you or wondered where God is in your darkest "pit," Joseph’s story is the roadmap you need. Summary: In this deep dive into Genesis 37–41, we follow Joseph from the fields of Hebron to the dungeons of Egypt. We look past the colorful fabric of his coat to see the resilient character of a man who refused to let his circumstances dictate his relationship with God. The Coat of Many Colors: We analyze the Hebrew "Ketonet Passim" and discover why this wasn't just a colorful garment, but a royal birthright robe that signaled Joseph’s future role as the provider for his family. The Pit and the Prison: We explore the "descending" steps of Joseph's life and how his presence changed every environment he entered, from Potiphar's house to the king's prison. Integrity Under Pressure: We study Joseph’s encounter with Potiphar’s wife. How do we flee temptation when it seems like "no one is watching"? Joseph shows us that our primary accountability is always to God. The Power of Interpretation: We look at Joseph’s ability to see God’s hand in dreams—both his own and Pharaoh’s—and how he maintained his spiritual "vision" even when his physical sight was limited to prison walls. Christ in Joseph: We conclude by highlighting the stunning parallels between Joseph and Jesus Christ—both rejected by their own, sold for silver, and ultimately becoming the "Saviors" of the world. Call-to-Action: Are you in a "pit" or a "palace" right now? Regardless of where you are, how can you make sure "the Lord is with you" today? Share your thoughts in the comments! On March 18, 2020, the ground literally shook in Salt Lake City, causing the trumpet to fall from the hand of the Angel Moroni. It was a physical wake-up call for a spiritual reality: our world—and our faith—will be shaken. The question isn't if the earthquake is coming, but whether your foundation is built on something that cannot be moved. Summary: In this episode, we answer the "Why" of the "Finding Faith" course, exploring the deep symbolism of earthquakes in scripture to see why this kind of "shaking" is meant to symbolize life in the last days. Drawing from Revelation 6 and the "sixth seal," we analyze the nature of spiritual instability and the divine purpose behind the "shaking." The Sixth Seal: We dive into the apocalyptic imagery of mountains moving and the heavens departing as a scroll. Who shall be able to stand when everything familiar is displaced? The Salt Lake Earthquake: We reflect on the 2020 seismic event as a metaphor for the "shaking" of our modern institutions and personal certainties. The Purpose of Shaking: Using Hebrews 12:27, we discuss how God allows the shaking to remove things that are temporary so that "those things which cannot be shaken may remain." Building on Bedrock: We learn the difference between sand and rock, and how to ensure our "spiritual architecture" is built to withstand the "spectres of the mind". Finding Power in the Night: We conclude with the hope that faith isn't just found in the light, but is forged and strengthened in the darkness of the "shake."
Is your family tree a bit... messy? If you feel like your life is full of sibling rivalry, deception, or "unanswered" prayers, you are in good company. From the tents of Isaac and Rebekah to the wrestling match at Peniel, the story of Jacob proves that God doesn't call perfect people—He transforms people who are willing to hold on until they receive a blessing. Summary: In this massive study of Genesis 24–36, we follow the Covenant through three generations of trials, travels, and transformations. We look past the "Sunday School" versions of these stories to see the grit and grace required to stay on the Covenant Path. Finding Rebekah: We analyze the decisiveness of Rebekah in Genesis 24—a woman who was willing to leave everything she knew for a promise she hadn't seen yet. The Birthright Conflict: We dive into the controversial "deception" of Isaac. Was it a trick, or was Rebekah ensuring God's will was done? We explore the heavy price of prioritizing the temporal over the eternal. Jacob’s Ladder: We break down the symbolism of the "stairway to heaven" at Bethel and how Jacob turned a cold stone pillow into a temple-like encounter with the Divine. Leah and Rachel: We discuss the years of labor and the "comparative" heartbreak of Leah and Rachel, seeing how God remembers those who feel unloved. Wrestling with God: We finish with the most pivotal moment in Jacob's life—his night-long wrestle. We learn that "Israel" means "Let God Prevail" and discover how we can also prevail through our trials. Call-to-Action: Jacob had to return to "Bethel" to find his way again. Where is your "Bethel"? Where do you go when you need to remember your covenants? Let’s discuss in the comments! "Is any thing too hard for the Lord?" This is the question that defines the lives of Abraham and Sarah. From a biological impossibility to a heartbreaking command on a mountain top, their journey proves that God can bring life out of "deadness"—if we are willing to trust Him with everything. Summary: In this episode, we study Genesis 18–23, following the "Father of the Faithful" and the "Mother of Nations" through their ultimate trials. We explore the transition from the joy of Isaac's birth to the gut-wrenching climb up Mount Moriah. The Promise to Sarah: We look at the visit of the three messengers and the shift from Sarah's "laugh of doubt" to her "laugh of joy." We discuss how she received strength to conceive because she "judged him faithful who had promised". The Sacrifice of Isaac: We dive deep into the "Abrahamic Test." Why would a God who abhors human sacrifice command this? We explore the parallels between Abraham offering Isaac and Heavenly Father offering His Only Begotten Son. Life from Death: Using Paul’s words in Romans and Hebrews, we analyze how Abraham was able to obey because he accounted that "God was able to raise him up, even from the dead". Jehovah-Jireh: We discuss the significance of the "ram in the thicket" and the name "The Lord Will Provide," exploring how God provides the lamb for us when we cannot provide it for ourselves. The Burial of Sarah: We reflect on the end of Sarah’s mortal journey and the faith required to buy a piece of the Promised Land as a "possession of a buryingplace." Call-to-Action: Have you ever had to surrender something you loved back to the Lord, trusting that He had a better plan? How did you find the strength to keep walking up your own "Mount Moriah"? God told Abraham to "get thee out of thy country" and promised him a legacy that would bless all the families of the earth. But for decades, Abraham and Sarah had no land and no children. How do you keep walking when the promises of God seem impossible? Summary: In this episode, we dive into the heart of the Old Testament: The Abrahamic Covenant. We look at Genesis 12–17 and Abraham 1–2 to see how a "foreigner and a stranger" became the Father of the Faithful. The Search for Greater Happiness: We analyze Abraham’s desire for the "blessings of the fathers" and why he sought for his own "place of residence" spiritually and physically. The Three-Part Promise: We break down the core of the covenant—Posterity (seed as the stars), Priesthood (the power to bless), and Property (a land of inheritance). The Name Change: We explore the profound symbolism of Abram becoming Abraham and Sarai becoming Sarah—adding the Hebrew letter "He" (the breath of God) into their very identities. The Symbolism of Circumcision: We discuss the "token" of the covenant and why God requires a physical reminder of our spiritual commitments. Sarah’s Role: We look at why Sarah is the "Rock" from which we are hewn and how her faith was just as essential to the covenant as Abraham's. Call-to-Action: Abraham was told to "be thou a blessing." How are you using your covenant privileges to bless those around you today? Let us know in the comments! Are you experiencing a faith crisis or know someone who is? Then welcome to "Finding Faith," a master class on navigating faith crisis brought to you by the creator of Unshaken, Jared Halverson. Summary: In this introductory lesson, we explore the contents of the course - lessons on doubt and disappointment, stages of faith, proving contraries, anti-Mormon strategies, and becoming unshaken. In the course of the course, we will follow an outline suggested by a medical metaphor: learning "the healer's art," identifying those who might be wrestling with their faith (and identifying those who might be able to help them), diagnosing the causes and characteristics of faith crisis, and prescribing practices and approaches that can lead to a stronger, more well-grounded faith. Jared Halverson will also introduce himself as your teacher in this course, sharing the formative experiences that led to his desire to help people wrestling with their faith, and explaining the academic background that prepared him to teach this course.
When the world became "filled with violence," God sent a Flood. Was it a fit of divine anger, or a desperate act of love to save future generations from a world without hope? Discover why Noah’s Ark is the ultimate symbol of the Atonement. Summary: In this episode, we dive into the deep waters of Genesis 6–11. We move past the Sunday School "flannel board" version of Noah to find a profound story of covenants, agency, and second chances. The Problem of Wickedness: We explore why the earth was "corrupt" and how the Flood served as a necessary "reset" to allow God's children a fair chance at life. Building the Ark: Noah was commanded to build a "tebah" (box or chest), a word used only one other time in the Bible—for Moses' basket. We discuss how we can build our own spiritual arks today. The Second Creation: We analyze the parallels between the Flood and the original Creation, seeing the earth emerge from the water as a new beginning. The Token of the Covenant: The rainbow wasn't just a pretty sign; it was a "token" of an everlasting covenant between God and Enoch's posterity. The Tower of Babel: We contrast Noah's altar with Nimrod's tower—showing the difference between building toward heaven God's way versus trying to "make a name for ourselves". Call-to-Action: What are the "thorns and thistles" in your life that God is trying to wash away through a fresh start? Share your thoughts on "new beginnings" in the comments! We often think of God as an immovable, distant force. But when Enoch looked into heaven, he didn't see a stoic deity—he saw a God in tears. Why would the Creator of "worlds without number" weep for us? The answer reveals the true heart of Zion. Summary: In this deep dive into Moses 7, we witness the culmination of Enoch's ministry. We move from the "high mountain" of personal revelation to the "City of Holiness" that eventually ascended to God. Building the City of Zion: We analyze the three pillars of Zion: being of "one heart and one mind," dwelling in "righteousness," and ensuring there are "no poor among them". The Weeping God: We explore the stunning dialogue where Enoch asks God, "How is it that thou canst weep?". We learn that God’s sorrow stems from the agency of His children who "hate their own blood" and refuse His love. The Perspective of Enoch: Like Enoch, we are invited to look beyond our own time. We discuss his vision of the Crucifixion, the Restoration, and the eventual return of Zion where "heaven and earth shall meet". Divine Empathy: We discuss the "Mother Eve" connection and the "Mother Earth" who groans for her children, showing that all of creation yearns for the righteousness of Zion. Call-to-Action: Zion is not just a place; it's a way of being. What is one thing you can do this week to move toward having "one heart" with those around you? Share your thoughts in the comments! Have you ever felt completely unqualified for what God has asked you to do? Enoch felt the same way. He was "but a lad" and "slow of speech," yet he became the man who led an entire city to be translated. Discover how your weaknesses can become your greatest strengths. Summary: In this episode, we explore the rich doctrines found in Genesis 5 and Moses 6. We look at the legacy of Adam and the rise of Enoch, uncovering the patterns of faith that define the patriarchal priesthood. The Book of Remembrance: We discuss why the early Saints kept a record in their own language and how writing down our spiritual experiences preserves them for our children. Parenting in the Gospel: Adam and Eve taught their children "in the way of understanding," providing a model for teaching by the Spirit and through the "power of God". The Call of Enoch: We analyze Enoch's deep insecurity when called to preach—his youth and his speech impediment—and God’s promise to "open thy mouth" and "fill it". The Power of a Seer: Enoch was commanded to "wash thine eyes with clay," a symbol of purifying his vision to see things not visible to the natural eye. The First Principles: Enoch teaches the fundamental "plan of salvation" through baptism, the Spirit, and the Atonement, showing that the gospel has been the same from the very beginning. Call-to-Action: What "speech impediment" or insecurity is holding you back from doing what God has asked of you? How can Enoch's story help you move forward today? Was the Fall of Adam and Eve a "plan B" or the "plan all along"? Most of the world views the events in Eden as a catastrophe, but the Pearl of Great Price reveals it was the beginning of our redemption. Summary: In this episode, we dive into Genesis 3–4 and Moses 4–5 to understand the "Fortunate Fall" and the true nature of opposition. We explore how the choice made in Eden opened the door to mortality, family, and joy—on the condition of our redemption through Jesus Christ. Tactics of the Adversary: We analyze the four specific ways Satan tried to deceive Eve—distorting God's word, appealing to the flesh, lying about consequences, and mixing truth with error. The Transgression vs. Sin: We discuss why the Fall was a necessary transgression of a lower law to keep a higher one: the commandment to multiply and replenish the earth. Coats of Skins: We look at the profound symbolism of God clothing Adam and Eve, representing the Atonement of Jesus Christ covering our nakedness and vulnerability. The Contrast of Cain: We study the tragedy of Cain, who "loved Satan more than God" and introduced the first "secret combination" into human history. Finding Joy in Mortality: Adam and Eve teach us that even in a world of thorns and thistles, we can be "glad" because of the redemption of our transgression. Call-to-Action: Do you see the "thorns and thistles" in your life as a curse or as a schoolmaster? How has the Atonement "clothed" you in your difficult moments? Most people find the Old Testament confusing, dusty, or even intimidating. But what if it’s actually the essential foundation for everything you believe about Jesus Christ? Today, we unlock the "Library of Books" that makes up the first half of our scripture and discover why it is the indispensable foundation of the covenant. Summary: In this introductory lesson, we lay the groundwork for a year-long journey through the Old Testament. We move beyond seeing it as a singular book and begin to view it as a diverse library of 39 books. Key themes include: The Foundation of the Covenant: Understanding why the Old Testament is the root from which the New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants grow. Structure and Organization: A breakdown of the Hebrew Bible (the Tanakh) and its three parts: the Torah (Law), Nevi'im (Prophets), and Ketuvim (Writings). The Power of Translation: Exploring how the Bible moved from Hebrew to Greek to English, and why the Joseph Smith Translation is vital for our study. Finding Christ in the Old Testament: Moving past the "dead letter" to see the "living spirit" of the Messiah on every page. Call-to-Action: Which book of the Old Testament has always felt the most "sealed" to you? Let us know in the comments, and let’s commit to opening it together this year!
We've come to the end of 2025 and after 6 years of largely verse-by-verse scripture study following the Come Follow Me schedule, we've got some announcements to make. Amazing days behind us and incredible days ahead!
Merry Christmas to all of my beloved Unshaken Saints! In this video, I share a Christmas message I wrote as a 19-year-old missionary, linking my first Christmas in Puerto Rico to the first Christmas in Bethlehem. May this beautiful holiday season bring you a greater measure of "peace on earth, good will to men."
When "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" was issued in 1995, some called it a "duh document". Today, it is a subject of controversy, dismissed by some as outdated and praised by others as a powerful, prophetic anchor. This lesson breaks down the nine paragraphs of this crucial declaration, understanding why the family is central to the Creator's plan. The Plan of God: Marriage between a man and a woman is "ordained of God" and the family is "central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children". The pre-mortal realm involved accepting God's plan to "obtain a physical body" and "gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection". Gender is Essential: Gender (male and female) is an "essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose". All human beings are "beloved spirit son[s] or daughter[s] of heavenly parents". Eternal Families: The divine plan of happiness enables "family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave" through "sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples". The Divine Design and Responsibility Parenthood & Chastity: God's first commandment to Adam and Eve to "multiply and replenish the earth remains in force". The sacred powers of "procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife". We affirm the "sanctity of life". Mothers and Fathers: By divine design , fathers are to "preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection". Mothers are primarily responsible for the "nurture of their children". Both are obligated to help one another as "equal partners". Success Principles: "Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ". Successful marriages are maintained on principles of "faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities". The Warning and the Call: The Proclamation warns that the "disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets". It calls upon "responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society". Call-to-Action: What is one way you can better live the principles of "equal partners" or "complete fidelity" this week? Share your commitment in the comments! How does a church navigate change, controversy, and continuing revelation while staying true to its foundation? The Articles of Faith lay the groundwork, but the two Official Declarations provide proof of a living church, led by a living prophet. We'll analyze the deep counsel given in these landmark sections. Official Declaration 1: The End of Plural Marriage President Wilford Woodruff faced a devastating dilemma: adhere to the law of plural marriage and lose the temples, ordinances, and leadership to imprisonment, or cease the practice. Honoring Authority: President Woodruff declared his "intention to submit" to the laws of Congress that the Supreme Court had pronounced constitutional. He even went so far as to order the Endowment House "taken down without delay" following one reported (but unproven) case of a marriage performed there. The Critical Question: He was commanded by God to "ask the Latter-day Saints a question" —which was the wisest course: to sacrifice the temples and ordinances, or to cease the practice, "leave the Temples in the hands of the Saints," and let the work for the dead continue. Prophetic Integrity: He declared he would have let all the temples go and gone to prison himself "had not the God of heaven commanded me" to do what he did, and when that command came, "it was all clear to me". This shows a willingness to fully embrace the opposing viewpoint before receiving the final divine guidance. Official Declaration 2: Revelation on the Priesthood Received by President Spencer W. Kimball after "extended meditation and prayer in the sacred rooms of the holy temple" , this declaration fulfilled the promises of earlier prophets. Divine Guidance: The First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles "pleaded long and earnestly" and supplicated the Lord for "divine guidance". The Result: God "heard our prayers," and by revelation, confirmed that "the long-promised day has come". This revelation extended the priesthood and temple blessings to "every faithful, worthy man" so he could "enjoy with his loved ones every blessing" that flows therefrom. The Articles of Faith These 13 points, part of the Wentworth Letter, establish our fundamental beliefs: Core Doctrine (A of F 1-4): Belief in the Godhead , accountability for "our own sins, and not for Adam's transgression" , salvation through the Atonement "by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel" , and the first principles of Faith, Repentance, Baptism, and the Gift of the Holy Ghost. A Living Church (A of F 5-9): We believe in priesthood authority , the "same organization that existed in the Primitive Church" , spiritual gifts , and accepting the Bible and the Book of Mormon as the word of God. Most importantly, we believe God "will yet reveal many great and important things". The Path of Discipleship (A of F 10-13): We believe in the literal gathering of Israel , "claim the privilege" of worshiping according to conscience , are subject to the law , and seek after anything "virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy". Imagine seeing your brother, who died before being baptized, standing as an heir of the celestial kingdom. This profound experience, recorded in D&C 137, opens the door to understanding God's infinite mercy. Decades later, another prophet received a vision (D&C 138) that dramatically expanded our knowledge of the work for the dead. D&C 137: The Desire of the Heart In January 1836, Joseph Smith beheld the celestial kingdom. He "marveled" to see his deceased brother, Alvin, there. The Lord revealed the magnificent principle that "all who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God". God judges all men according to their "works, according to the desire of their hearts". This section also confirms that "all children who die before they arrive at the years of accountability are saved in the celestial kingdom of heaven". D&C 138: The Redemption of the Dead In 1918, during a time when death was on everyone's mind , Joseph F. Smith was "pondering over the scriptures". This act of study and reflection was crucial; he found that as he "wondered," his "eyes of my understanding were opened". Christ's Ministry: The prophet saw Christ's sojourn in the spirit world. Christ "went not in person among the wicked and the disobedient". The Mission Organization: Instead, He spent His time "instructing and preparing the faithful spirits of the prophets" who had testified of Him. He "organized his forces and appointed messengers" —Spirit World Missionaries—to "carry the message of redemption unto all the dead". The Eternal Work: This revelation clarifies that the faithful elders of this dispensation "continue their labors" after death. The great and mighty ones, including our latter-day prophets, were "chosen in the beginning" and received their "first lessons" in the world of spirits. This work of redemption and temple ordinances is truly a "continuation of the seeds"—a vast family effort. June 27, 1844. Carthage Jail. The greatest tragedy and the ultimate triumph of the Restoration. How does the Church move forward after the Prophet seals his testimony with his blood? D&C 135 and 136 answer with a powerful statement on sacrifice and a direct revelation on how to build a Zion people. Summary: This episode explores the final, foundational sections of the Doctrine and Covenants: D&C 135: The Martyrdom. Written by John Taylor, this section seals the testimony of the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants with the death of Joseph and Hyrum Smith. We contrast the different, yet unified, ways the brothers met their end—Hyrum falling "calmly" and Joseph attempting to leap from the window. The section declares that Joseph Smith "has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it". His innocent blood was shed , and it was "needful that he should seal his testimony with his blood". D&C 136: The Word and Will of the Lord. Received by Brigham Young in Winter Quarters, this revelation provided the blueprint for the great western exodus. It commanded the "Camp of Israel" to be organized into companies with a "covenant and promise to keep all the commandments". Collective Effort: The trek was not individualistic; the Saints were commanded to "bear an equal proportion" in taking the "poor, the widows, the fatherless," and the families of soldiers. The command was to "go to with their might, to prepare for those who are to tarry" —to be "pioneers to prepare". Preparation for Zion: The Lord warns, "my people must be tried in all things, that they may be prepared to receive the glory that I have for them". He assures them, "marvel not at these things" , and that He is the "God of your fathers" who led Israel and whose "arm is stretched out in the last days, to save my people Israel". If the Doctrine and Covenants is the capstone of the Restoration, how does it conclude? It ends with a booming warning and an urgent political declaration. D&C 133 provides the final marching orders for the Church: prepare for Christ's return. Summary: In this episode, we analyze the urgent call to action in the Appendix (D&C 133) and the foundational principles of religious liberty (D&C 134). D&C 133: The Prophetic Appendix. This section is a restatement of the urgent warnings in D&C 1. The Lord commands the Saints to "prepare ye, prepare ye" and to "go ye out from Babylon" to avoid the destruction of the last days. This involves the call to "be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord." We explore the magnificent, yet terrifying, description of the Second Coming: Christ, "mighty to save," descending with "dyed garments"—red from having "trodden the wine-press alone"—a powerful symbol of both judgment and sacrificial love. The section concludes with the tender reassurance that "in all their afflictions he was afflicted." D&C 134: Church & State. Written in 1835, this declaration defines the Church's stance on civil governance, reflecting the persecution the Saints had endured. Government's Role: We believe governments are "instituted of God for the benefit of man" and should secure the "free exercise of conscience," property rights, and the protection of life. Freedom of Conscience: The central principle is clear: civil magistrates should "restrain crime, but never control conscience; should punish guilt, but never suppress the freedom of the soul." We advocate for a separation of Church and State, believing it is not right to "mingle religious influence with civil government" in a way that fosters one religion while suppressing another. Painful Compromises: We discuss the difficult historical context of verse 12, where the Church states it will "not interfere with bond-servants," revealing the painful compromises sometimes necessary in a fallen world to secure peace and the higher goal of preaching the gospel. Discerning spirits, the nature of God, glorious sociality, the timing of the Second Coming, eternal marriage, and plural marriage. In this pivotal lesson, we jump into the deep end of Restoration doctrine, covering Joseph Smith's most profound teachings on the nature of God, our eternal potential, and the covenants that bind us forever. Summary: This episode explores D&C 129–132, revelations containing foundational and high-level doctrine for the Church. D&C 129: Discerning Spirits. The Lord provides "three grand keys" to distinguish a resurrected being, a righteous spirit, and the devil appearing as an angel of light. This section emphasizes the eternal reality of the body and the importance of discernment. D&C 130: Eternal Knowledge and Timing. Joseph records several "items of instruction," including the promise that "whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection," providing an "advantage in the world to come." He also recounts the Lord's gentle command to "trouble me no more" about the timing of the Second Coming. Crucially, we learn that the "same sociality" we enjoy here, "coupled with eternal glory," will exist in the world to come. D&C 131: The New and Everlasting Covenant. This section reveals that in the celestial glory, a man "must enter into this order of the priesthood [the new and everlasting covenant of marriage]" to obtain the highest degree and have an eternal "increase." D&C 132: Eternal Marriage and Law. This essential revelation lays out the foundational law of eternal marriage, which must be "sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise" and entered into by revelation through the authorized servant. We discuss the stark difference between marriages that "have an end when men are dead" and those that lead to "thrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers." We also examine the difficult topic of plural marriage, seeing it as an Abrahamic test given by command to "restore all things." While in hiding from enemies, a prophet writes two of the most doctrinally explosive letters in scripture. How can we make sense of the work of salvation for the dead, and what does it have to do with the "fullness of times"? D&C 127 and 128 reveal the magnificent scope of God's work, which binds heaven and earth together. Summary: This episode explores D&C 125–128, focusing on lessons in discipleship, divine priorities, and the eternal cause of redemption. D&C 125: Saints in Deed. The Lord gives direction to the Saints in Iowa Territory, asking if they are merely "Saints in name only" or truly "essaying to be my saints." The call is to gather and live up to the Book of Mormon standard by naming their city Zarahemla. D&C 126: An Honorable Release. The Lord gives Brigham Young an honorable release from constant missionary travel, declaring, "your offering is acceptable to me." His new command: "take especial care of your family from this time, henceforth and forever." This sets the eternal priority of family over temporary callings. D&C 127-128: The Great Cause. Joseph Smith's letters, written while he was "deep water is what I am wont to swim in," focus intensely on baptism for the dead. The Power of Binding: We learn the "very bold doctrine" that whatsoever is bound on earth by proper priesthood authority is "bound in heaven". This work is essential, as "their salvation is necessary and essential to our salvation." The Record: The Lord requires a recorder who is an "eye-witness" for every ordinance, ensuring the records are "in order" and worthy to be placed in the temple archives. The Offering: Joseph encourages the Saints to "waste and wear out our lives" in this cause. The ultimate goal is to present in the holy temple a "book containing the records of our dead, which shall be worthy of all acceptation"—an offering in righteousness to the returning King. The Final Charge: Joseph rallies the Saints with an ecstatic vision of the Restoration, crying, "shall we not go on in so great a cause? Courage, brethren; and on, on to the victory!" This work forms the "welding together of dispensations" that defines the fullness of times. Call-to-Action: What small act can you do this week to "weld" your family together—living and dead? Imagine starting over, driven from your home, betrayed by friends, and attempting to build a city and a temple in a malaria-infested swamp. The sheer audacity of the Nauvoo project required a powerful new revelation. D&C 124 provides the blueprint for healing the past, trusting the present, and embracing a grand future. Summary: This episode analyzes D&C 124, a pivotal revelation received in Nauvoo in 1841. Proclaiming Zion (D&C 124:2-11): The Saints are commanded to issue a solemn proclamation to "all the kings of the world" and world leaders, inviting them to "come to the light and glory of Zion". This was an act of courage, recognizing that the set time had come to favor Zion. Heart Health & Integrity (D&C 124:15-20): The Lord praises Hyrum Smith for the "integrity of his heart" and his love for what is right. In stark contrast, John C. Bennett is given multiple "ifs" —his reward depends entirely on his choice to "receive counsel" and continue in love and acceptance. The Nauvoo House (D&C 124:22-24, 60-61): The Saints are commanded to build a "healthful habitation" and a "resting-place for the weary traveler" where he can "contemplate the word of the Lord". The Lord instructs that stockholders must be "a believer in the Book of Mormon, and the revelations". The Temple & Acceptance (D&C 124:27-35): Because the Saints lack a proper house for ordinances, the Lord mercifully accepts baptisms for the dead performed outside a temple "only in the days of your poverty". However, this acceptance has a strict deadline: failure to complete the temple after a "sufficient time" will result in the Church being "rejected as a church". "A for Effort" (D&C 124:49-55): The Lord gives a powerful principle: when we go "with all their might" and are hindered by enemies, the Lord will "accept of their offerings". This principle is applied to the failed attempt to build the temple in Jackson County , offering "consolation" and a command to "prove yourselves unto me" by trying again in Nauvoo. The Cause of the Poor (D&C 124:74-76): Saints are commanded to "plead the cause of the poor and the needy" and to support this cause with their interest , establishing a pattern of generosity that ensures their "seed be found begging bread" no more. Imagine being unjustly imprisoned for months, watching your family and people suffer, and asking the piercing question: "O God, where art thou?" The revelations given to Joseph Smith in the darkest dungeon of his life are some of the most beautiful and powerful in all scripture. Summary: In this profound episode, we explore the transcendent revelations of Doctrine and Covenants 121, 122, and 123, written from the confines of Liberty Jail. D&C 121: The Power of Righteousness. We delve into Joseph's heartfelt plea, "How long shall thy hand be stayed?" The Lord answers with a staggering lesson: authority and power are inseparably connected with the principles of righteousness. We analyze the fatal trap of "unrighteous dominion"—covering our sins, gratifying pride, and exercising compulsion—which instantly causes the heavens to withdraw. Crucially, we learn the six principles of Godly Influence: persuasion, long-suffering, gentleness, meekness, love unfeigned, and kindness. This section is a master class in Christlike leadership. D&C 122: Eternal Perspective in Suffering. The Lord reassures Joseph: "My son, peace be unto thy soul." He validates every trial Joseph has faced, from false accusations to the "jaws of hell," and promises that "all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good." This section confirms that the "Son of Man hath descended below them all," granting Him perfect knowledge to comfort us in our extremities. D&C 123: The Duty to Record. Finally, we discuss the duty to collect a "catalog of catastrophes" detailing the Saints' sufferings and abuses. This was not for vengeance, but to "leave the whole nation without excuse" and to help those who are "kept from the truth because they know not where to find it." The lesson culminates with the principle of total effort: "cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God." When a people face "fightings without" and "fears within", what keeps them standing? Is it possible to serve God without constantly worrying about your property, or even your family? D&C 115–120 answers these questions, providing counsel for a Church struggling to survive. Summary: In this episode, we explore revelations given as the Saints faced intense persecution in Missouri and internal apostasy in Kirtland. D&C 115 renames the Church, emphasizing that "thus shall my church be called in the last days, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". The Lord calls Far West to be a "holy and consecrated land" , providing a "refuge from the storm". D&C 116 identifies "Spring Hill" as the sacred place of Adam-ondi-Ahman , where Adam shall come to visit his people. D&C 117 focuses on material priorities. The Lord asks, "what is property unto me?" , commanding the Saints to "let them go" and focus on the "more weighty matters". We highlight the incredible faith of Oliver Granger, whose sacrifice was deemed "more sacred...than his increase". The Lord also warns against a "littleness of soul" and the deeds of the Nicolaitane band. D&C 118 issues a stunning challenge to the Twelve Apostles: to depart for their mission on April 26th from the cornerstone of the Far West temple, a site surrounded by enemies. The Lord promises to "provide for their families" as they go forth. D&C 119-120 reveals the Law of Tithing: first, all "surplus property" , and subsequently, "one-tenth of all their interest annually". This law is declared a "standing law...forever" because sacrifice sanctifies , helping to "sanctify the land of Zion". D&C 120 reveals that the disbursement of these funds must be managed by a presiding council. Joseph Smith and his counselors were deep in debt, so they went searching for buried treasure in Salem, Massachusetts, leading to one of the most remarkable sections of the Doctrine and Covenants! Did God really approve of their "follies," and what did they find that was "more treasures than one"? SUMMARY: Join us as we explore D&C 111–114, covering a pivotal and often misunderstood moment in early Church history and the profound doctrinal answers God gave in response to conflict and confusion. D&C 111 | The Salem Trip: We analyze the search for wealth to settle Church debt, the warning against "get-rich-quick" schemes , and the Lord’s promise to Joseph Smith: "I have much treasure in this city for you" , shifting the focus from temporal silver to the spiritual treasure of souls and ancestry. D&C 112 | The Quorum of the Twelve: The Lord speaks directly to Thomas B. Marsh, President of the Twelve, to address "some few things in thine heart". The revelation is a powerful call to humility, urging him to "Be not partial" and let his "love abound unto all men". This section also outlines the authority given to the Twelve to "unlock the door of the kingdom" in the Dispensation of the Fulness of Times. D&C 113 | Q&A on Isaiah: Joseph Smith seeks clarity on Isaiah 11. The Lord reveals that the "Stem of Jesse" is Christ , and the "Rod" that comes from it is a servant in the hands of Christ—identified as Joseph Smith. We also discuss what it means for Zion to "put on thy strength" (priesthood authority) and loose the "bands of her neck". D&C 114 | Taking the Opportunity: In a stark warning against apostasy , the Lord calls David W. Patten to "settle up all his business" for a mission. The revelation teaches a critical principle: if leaders deny the Lord, others "shall be planted in their stead and receive their bishopric". CALL-TO-ACTION: Which of these four sections spoke most powerfully to you? Do you feel like your sins are unforgivable, or that you're not doing enough? What is the power of the Melchizedek Priesthood, and how did it get its name? D&C 106-108 offers answers that will bring peace to your soul and deepen your understanding of the Lord’s kingdom. Summary: In this episode, we explore D&C 106-108, beginning with two lesser-known members, Warren A. Cowdery and Lyman Sherman. Their personal revelations provide powerful insights into scrupulosity and toxic perfectionism. We'll learn how to "let your soul be at rest concerning your spiritual standing" while still being "more careful henceforth". Next, we dive into the organizational and doctrinal revelations of D&C 107. We will uncover the true nature of the Melchizedek Priesthood, its authority to "administer in spiritual things" and the incredible blessing to "enjoy the communion and presence of God". We'll also explore why the "Holy Priesthood, after the Order of the Son of God" was renamed out of "reverence" for God's name, and how this applies to us today. The section on the organization of quorums, including the First Presidency, the Twelve Apostles, and the Seventy, will help us understand the unique blend of hierarchy and democracy in the Lord’s Church. We'll examine the principle of unanimous decisions and the attributes required for righteous counsel. Finally, we'll look at the powerful, prophetic gathering at Adam-ondi-Ahman, where Adam gave his last blessing and predicted all that would befall his posterity. This lesson is a profound reminder of the Lord's mercy, the power of His priesthood, and the sacred history that connects us to our first parents. What do you do when you do everything you're asked, and it all falls apart? This is the powerful and often misunderstood story of Zion's Camp, and it teaches us timeless lessons about faith, finances, and preparing a people for Zion. Summary: In this episode, we dive into four pivotal sections of the Doctrine and Covenants. We begin with the organization of the Kirtland High Council in D&C 102, which provides a divine pattern for resolving "important difficulties" through "counsel in council" and seeking the Lord's mind. Next, we explore the call to organize Zion's Camp in D&C 103, where the Lord promises that "after much tribulation come the blessings". This journey of hardship and faith culminates in a surprising twist: the Lord disbands the camp, revealing a much deeper purpose. This leads us to the heart of the lesson in D&C 105. The Lord explains that the redemption of Zion had to be postponed because His people "have not learned to be obedient" and "are not united". He teaches that they must be "chastened until they learn obedience". This trial was a necessary preparation, designed to teach them "more perfectly" and to receive a promised "great endowment" of power. Finally, we discuss the Lord's counsel on welfare and finances in D&C 104. The Lord declares that it is His "purpose to provide for my saints," but it must be done "in mine own way". He reveals that "the earth is full, and there is enough and to spare," and that all who have abundance are merely stewards of His property. We also learn a powerful financial principle: to "pay all your debts" through "diligence and humility and the prayer of faith". This lesson reveals that becoming a Zion people is a process of sanctification—learning obedience and unity so we can lift up an ensign of peace and become worthy of the blessings promised. Have you ever felt wronged and wanted justice? Do you struggle to balance family and Church callings? And what is the real reason for suffering in our lives? D&C 98-101 offers profound and often surprising answers to these questions, giving us a blueprint for peace in a world of contention. Summary: In this episode, we tackle four remarkable revelations. We start with D&C 98 and the "Lord's Law of War," learning when to patiently endure and when to stand. We'll explore the difference between being justified and being sanctified and discover why the Lord commands us to "renounce war and proclaim peace." Next, D&C 100 provides a powerful message for every parent and leader: "your families are well; they are in mine hands." This revelation gives us comfort and direction on balancing our most important responsibilities. We then dive into D&C 101, which reveals why the Saints suffered such intense persecution in Missouri—as a consequence of their own sins, including "jarrings, and contentions, and envyings". The Lord, however, promises to remember mercy in the day of wrath. We'll discuss the parable of the nobleman and the servants who asked, "what need hath my lord of this tower?" This serves as a powerful warning against second-guessing God's counsel. Amidst the chaos, D&C 101 offers incredible hope, redefining Zion as "the pure in heart," and promising that Zion "shall not be moved". Finally, we'll examine the Lord's "strange act" and His role in establishing the Constitution. Call-to-Action: What insights did you gain from the Lord's law of war and peace? Is Zion a geographical location or a state of being? Can you be "walking in darkness at noon-day"? And what does it mean to be chastened by a loving God? D&C 94-97 answers these questions and more, offering powerful lessons on building God's kingdom—and ourselves—according to His patterns. Summary: In this episode, we explore four short but impactful sections of the Doctrine and Covenants. We begin with D&C 94, focusing on the Lord's emphasis on following His "pattern" for our lives and the building of His kingdom. Next, we confront the "tough love" of D&C 95, where the Saints are chastened for their "very grievous sin" of neglecting the Kirtland Temple. We'll unpack the concept of "walking in darkness at noon-day" and how we can avoid sins of omission. We'll also discuss the promise of an endowment of "power from on high" and the need to remove the "incumbrances" or obstacles to God's work, as revealed in D&C 96. Finally, we turn to D&C 97, which addresses the Saints in Zion as they faced intense persecution. We'll learn about obedience that requires sacrifice and the powerful truth that "this is Zion—the pure in heart." We'll see that building Zion is about becoming a people worthy of the place, and that opposition often precedes God's greatest blessings. Doctrine and Covenants Section 93 is a theological masterclass, offering mind-blowing insights that will deepen your relationship with the Divine and help you find your purpose. In this episode, we tackle the profound and beautiful theology of D&C 93. We begin by exploring the incredible promise that we can "see my face and know that I am" by following five simple steps. We'll discuss how the highest form of worship is emulation—striving to become like our Heavenly Parents and the Savior. Then, we dive into the core doctrine that "the glory of God is intelligence". We'll explore two layers of this truth: first, as the acquisition of knowledge , and second, as our eternal, co-existent nature with God. This leads to the remarkable revelation about the innocence of man at birth. What if there's a divine "olive leaf" of peace from God, revealing profound truths about Christ, our eternal potential, and how to prepare for His glorious return? This video unlocks D&C 88! Summary: Doctrine & Covenants 88, often called the "Olive Leaf" plucked from the Tree of Paradise, is a comprehensive revelation offering God's message of peace and preparation for the last days. This video delves into its multifaceted teachings: The Light of Christ (88:3-13, 40): Discover Jesus Christ as the omnipresent "light of truth," the "other Comforter," and the very "life, law, and power" that governs all things in the universe—from the sun and moon to the earth itself [cite: 88:6-13]. This light enlightens our understandings and helps us see everything else, truly revealing that "light cleaveth unto light" [cite: 88:40]. The Spirit and the Body (88:14-20, 28-31): Learn the profound truth that "the spirit and the body are the soul of man" [cite: 88:15], emphasizing the vital importance of the physical resurrection for a fullness of joy. We explore how even "Mother Earth" will be sanctified and crowned with glory, prepared for celestial beings, and how our resurrected bodies will be quickened by the glory we are willing to receive [cite: 88:17-20, 28-31]. Willingness to Receive (88:32-33): Understand that God gives according to our willingness. We often limit the infinite goodness of God by our own unwillingness to open our arms and hearts to His gifts, preventing us from rejoicing fully in both the gift and the Giver [cite: 88:32-33]. The Power of Law (88:22-26, 34-39): Explore how divine law governs, preserves, perfects, and sanctifies all things. Only by abiding in celestial law can we abide celestial glory. The earth itself serves as an example, fulfilling the measure of its creation by obeying celestial law [cite: 88:25-26, 34]. Every kingdom in the universe operates by its own specific laws, emphasizing that there's no escaping the principle of law [cite: 88:36-39]. A Universe of Other Sheep (88:45-62): Gain an expanded vision of God's vast creations. Through a profound parable, learn that Christ not only created and redeems "worlds without number" but also visits them all in "his hour, and in his time, and in his season" [cite: 88:56-58]. This highlights God's personal attention to all His children across the immensity of space. House of Glory (88:87-120): Discover the Lord's blueprint for preparing for the Second Coming. This includes a call to solemn assembly, diligently seeking wisdom from "best books" by study and faith, and organizing and establishing a "house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God" – ultimately referring to the Temple and its transformative power [cite: 88:117-120]. The School of the Prophets (88:77-81, 122-133): Understand God's command to teach one another diligently the doctrine of the kingdom, encompassing both religious and secular knowledge. This "celestial curriculum" prepares us to "magnify the calling" whereunto we are called and to warn our neighbors. The video concludes with the beautiful order of the School of the Prophets, emphasizing that true education is a relationship built on prayer, salutation, and an "unchangeable" bond of charity [cite: 88:77-81, 122-133]. This video is a powerful invitation to embrace God's expansive truths and prepare ourselves for the glory that awaits. Call-to-Action: Which aspect of D&C 88 resonated most deeply with you? Have you ever truly grasped the immense power and sacred promises embedded within the Priesthood? This video unlocks the profound truths of Doctrine & Covenants 84! Summary: In this powerful exploration, we delve into D&C 84, a foundational revelation given to elders returning from their missions, revealing the grand scope of the Restoration. It's not just about restoring the Gospel, Priesthood, or Church, but ultimately about the restoration of God's people to a right relationship with Him. This process is intrinsically linked to the gathering of Saints to Zion and the building of Temples, where God's glory can fill His house. The video dissects the dual nature of the Priesthood: the Lesser (Aaronic) Priesthood, which prepares us through the preparatory gospel and baptism of repentance, and the Greater (Melchizedek) Priesthood, which holds the "key of the knowledge of God" and the power to manifest "the power of godliness". It's within the temple that this power of godliness is most fully made manifest, making ordinances effective for our salvation. A central theme is the Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood, emphasizing the sacred promises made by both God and man. Discover God's unbreakable oath to bless those who worthily receive the Priesthood, promising them sanctification, renewed bodies, and becoming heirs of "all that my Father hath". In return, man's covenant involves receiving the Priesthood, magnifying callings, hearkening to words of eternal life, and living by every word of God. The video also warns against treating God's word lightly, which can lead to spiritual darkness and bondage, but offers the powerful remedy of repentance and remembering the new covenant. Ultimately, living these principles makes us friends of Christ and enables signs to follow believers, confirming the transformative power of the Priesthood in preparing us for celestial glory. Have you ever felt called to serve, wondered about true forgiveness, or questioned how God provides for His people? This video unlocks divine principles from Doctrine & Covenants Sections 81-83! Summary: In this comprehensive lesson, we delve into three powerful revelations that lay foundational principles for God's organized kingdom. First, in D&C 81, we explore the sacred calling of a counselor, using the example of Frederick G. Williams. Learn that being a counselor is a divine assignment to listen, give your best advice, and faithfully support chosen leadership. It's a unique blend of leading through counsel and following with diligence, a testament to God's acknowledgment of humble service. Next, D&C 82 unveils profound truths about forgiveness and the Lord's Storehouse. Discover that God, who forgives our sins, also expects us to "refrain from sin" to prevent past transgressions from returning. We then examine the principle of "much is given, much is required", leading into the radical concept of the Lord's Storehouse—a divine economic system designed to eliminate poverty and promote equality among God's people. This isn't just about material goods, but a consecration of all our gifts and talents for the common good. Through this covenant, God declares, "I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say". Finally, D&C 83 addresses the compassionate care for vulnerable members of society—women, children, widows, and orphans. This revelation emphasizes the Church's and individual responsibility to provide for the needy, ensuring that no one is left destitute within God's expanding Zion. This video offers practical guidance on living a consecrated life, extending forgiveness, building unity, and actively participating in God's ongoing work to care for all His children and establish Zion. Have you ever felt lost trying to understand the Book of Revelation? Or wondered how God guides us, step by step, even when we feel like "little children"? This video reveals profound answers from Doctrine & Covenants 77-80! Summary: This comprehensive lesson unpacks the rich teachings of Doctrine & Covenants 77-80, offering insights into God's methods of revelation, personal development, and church organization. We begin by tackling the symbolic language of the Book of Revelation (D&C 77), exploring the meaning behind the "sea of glass," "four beasts," and the significance of "eyes" (knowledge) and "wings" (agency). Discover the purpose of the seven seals and the identity of the angels, including Elias, who gathers Israel and places the "seal of the living God" upon the foreheads of the faithful. Next, we delve into the practicalities of building Zion (D&C 78) through the establishment of the United Firm (later the United Order). Learn how this organization regulates the "storehouse for the poor," fosters "equality in the bonds of heavenly things," and prepares God's people to "stand independent" amidst tribulation. This section emphasizes the crucial role of commandments, councils, and unbreakable covenants in achieving unity and protecting against spiritual blindness. We then focus on personal growth (D&C 78), understanding that while we may often feel like "little children," God patiently leads us along, knowing we "cannot bear all things now". This highlights the importance of receiving all things with thankfulness and becoming "faithful and wise stewards". Finally, we explore the sacred nature of mission calls (D&C 79-80). Whether serving abroad or at home, we are assured that "it mattereth not, for ye cannot go amiss" as we declare the things we have heard, believe, and know to be true. This process of gaining testimony, coupled with the companionship of the Holy Ghost, empowers us to fulfill our divine assignments. Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon experienced visions that revealed Christ's ability to do "exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think," showing His wisdom, marvelous ways, and the unimaginable extent of His work of salvation. We begin by examining how we often underestimate the Savior, discovering that "beside him there is no Savior," yet His mercy and grace extend to bring everyone home except the sons of perdition. The video then unpacks the concept of "The Cosmic Christ," where Joseph and Sidney beheld the glory of the Son, witnessing that by Him, "the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God." Next, we confront the sobering reality of "Perdition and His Sons," understanding the profound loss associated with Lucifer and the specific conditions that lead to becoming a son of perdition. This segment surprisingly reveals God's near-universal plan of salvation, emphasizing that "all the rest shall be brought forth by the resurrection of the dead." Finally, we journey through the three degrees of glory—Celestial, Terrestrial, and Telestial—receiving a breathtaking glimpse into what "heaven" truly looks like, even surpassing all understanding for the Telestial Kingdom. We'll also touch on the profound spiritual experiences that cannot be written but must be "seen and understood by the power of the Holy Spirit." Prepare to enlarge your vision of God's love, justice, and the boundless power of Christ to redeem. 0:00 Introduction and Overview 6:10 Never Underestimate Christ 16:50 The Cosmic Christ 36:28 Perdition and His Sons 52:19 Celestial Glory 1:05:23 Terrestrial Glory 1:13:13 Telestial Glory 1:29:34 What We Can and Cannot Write 1:42:34 One-Liners
