A properly nourished human body is the greatest known pharmacy. No one has been able to duplicate it or we would not need vaccines. In fact, a vaccine is a โproduct that stimulates a person's immune system to produce immunity to a specific pathogen and related disease, protecting the person from that disease, i.e. the cure is created by the human body." Without proper nutrition, the immune system is poorly equipped to defend the body when exposed to pathogens. For this reason, we must take a โprevention before cure approachโ when it comes to immunity support. On this episode, host Kat Barefield, MS, RD will cover the key micronutrients involved in the immune system, which ones many people fall short of, and how to build and support a strong immune system through nutrition. Weeks in advance we program with the best of intentions. But the reality is that optimal loading is a daily conundrum between biology and logistics where individual variance reigns. Clients will tolerate and respond differently to the magnitude and frequency of training load, with too much stress leading to breakdown and possible degradation of health. In our quest for optimal adaptive responses, the application of training stress must be in line with our clientโs current state of physical readiness. Autoregulatory adjustments in programming are every bit as necessary as system updates are for our smartphone devices. In this episode, NASM Master Instructor Andy Hanley will expose you to some tools, techniques, and tactics that will facilitate you in guiding your client to better self-govern and adjust for what they are experiencing physically, mentally, and emotionally during the session. In the high-stress playground of the modern-day athlete or weekend warrior, the recipe for success requires a fluid, adaptive process involving both progressive and reactive manipulation of even pre-planned training stimuli.
