People with pre-diabetes are 2.7 times more likely to develop major depression. People with new bipolar disorder are 3.5 times more likely to have metabolic syndrome. If that stopped you in your tracks, good – it stopped me too. I brought Dr. Georgia Ede back to The Resetter Podcast to dig into her new expert consensus on ketogenic diets and mental health, and this conversation is one every woman needs to hear. Dr. Ede is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist and one of the world's leading experts in nutritional and metabolic psychiatry. What she laid out in this episode completely reframed how I think about brain health, brain energy, and what it actually means to feed your mind. We get into why the brain is a hybrid engine that runs best on a mixture of glucose and ketones and what happens when it runs on glucose alone. If you've ever wondered whether what you eat is affecting how you think, feel, and function – this one will give you the science and tools to find out. What if the reason you don't trust yourself was engineered centuries ago — on purpose? In this episode, Dr. Mindy Pelz sits down with feminist theologian and author Meggan Watterson to uncover the deliberate suppression of women's inner authority and what reclaiming it looks like right now. Meggan draws on 30 years of scholarship — including the long-buried Gospel of Mary and the Acts of Paul and Thecla — to show that the most powerful women in early Christianity weren't lost to history by accident. They were erased because their message was too dangerous: that the greatest power doesn't come from institutions, hierarchies, or external permission. It comes from within. In this conversation you'll learn: Why women's self-doubt has roots in a 4th-century political decision What the Gospel of Mary teaches about the "spiritual eye of the heart" Why ending the war with your body is the first act of reclaiming your power Why rage is sacred — and why feeling it fully is healing What it means to "baptize yourself" in today's world If you've ever felt unworthy, silenced, or too much — this episode is for you. Have you ever blamed menopause for your inability to focus — only to wonder if something bigger is going on? I know I did. For years I thought brain fog was just about hormones, but this conversation cracked that wide open for me. I sat down with Dr. Zelana Montminy, positive psychologist and author of Finding Focus, and what she shared genuinely stopped me in my tracks. Focus isn't a character flaw. It's a biological state. And most of us, especially women in midlife, have been operating in chronic nervous system dysregulation for so long, we don't even know what regulated feels like anymore. In this episode, we unpack why distraction is so often dysregulation in disguise, how the cultural expectation of multitasking has wrecked our brains, and why the "brain fog" you're experiencing might have less to do with estrogen and everything to do with decades of cognitive overload. We also talk about grief — the big kind and the micro kind — and how unprocessed loss quietly tanks our ability to show up and focus. If you're a woman in midlife wondering why you can't seem to finish a thought, this one is for you. 🎧 New episodes weekly on The Resetter Podcast. Cancer rates are rising rapidly, especially among younger women. In this powerful conversation, Dr. Mindy sits down with integrative cancer expert Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy to explore what is driving this surge and what women need to understand about prevention. Dr. Connealy shares her 40 years of clinical experience treating chronic illness and cancer. She explains why hormones are only one small piece of the health puzzle and why lifestyle, stress, toxins, sleep, and metabolic health play a much larger role in disease risk. Together they break down the truth about hormone replacement therapy, GLP-1 weight loss drugs, peptides, and fasting. Most importantly, they explain how women can create an internal environment where their cells can thrive. This episode will change how you think about health, prevention, and longevity. If you've ever felt pressure to be the "good girl," you're not the only one. Dr. Mindy has heard from thousands of women who feel exhausted by the pressure to be agreeable, accommodating, and selfless. Many women were taught that being good meant putting everyone else first. But over time, that pattern often leads to resentment, burnout, and a deep disconnection from your own voice. That's why Dr. Mindy invited writer and cultural critic Elise Loehnen to join her for this conversation. Elise is the former Chief Content Officer of goop and the New York Times bestselling author of On Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins and the Price Women Pay to Be Good. Through her writing and podcast Pulling the Thread, Elise explores the cultural expectations that shape women's lives and how those expectations influence our relationships, emotions, and sense of identity. In this conversation, Dr. Mindy and Elise unpack the invisible rules women have been taught to live by for generations. They explore why women were conditioned to suppress emotions like anger and envy, how people-pleasing shows up in female friendships, and why learning to trust your intuition is one of the most important skills a woman can develop. In this episode, you'll learn how to: -Reconnect with your intuition and inner authority -Understand the cultural conditioning shaping women's behavior -Recognize how suppressed emotions impact your health -Navigate female friendships with more awareness -Step out of people-pleasing patterns -Reclaim your voice and authenticity For any woman who feels like she has been living by expectations that don't truly belong to her, this conversation offers a new perspective. It helps you understand where those patterns came from and how to begin trusting yourself again. It's not about motivation. It's not about discipline. And it's not because you're "getting older." In this episode, Dr. Mindy breaks down a shift that almost no one explains to women: Estrogen stimulates creatine production. And when estrogen declines in perimenopause and menopause, creatine can decline too. Creatine isn't just a gym supplement. It's critical for cellular energy. It helps recycle ATP, the fuel your muscles and brain run on. When ATP drops, strength, recovery, and mental clarity can shift with it. This conversation will change how you think about midlife performance. In this episode, you'll learn: What creatine actually does inside the female body Why creatine matters more after 40 The connection between estrogen, ATP, and muscle strength How creatine supports brain energy and stress resilience What the research says about safety and dosing Who should consider creatine, and who shouldn't How to support strength long term through physiology, not willpower If you're lifting heavier but building less muscle… If your brain feels slower under pressure… If you've been blaming yourself for feeling "off"… Bookmark this episode. In this episode of The Resetter Podcast, Dr. Mindy Pelz sits down with Sara Szal for a thoughtful conversation about discernment, trust, and why so many women are quietly questioning the wellness and health narratives they were once told to accept. Rather than telling listeners what to believe, this discussion explores how to think, how to stay grounded, curious, and connected to your intuition without slipping into fear, cynicism, or blind trust. Together, they talk about power, silence, authority, and why learning to ask better questions is an essential part of women's health, safety, and self-trust. This episode is an invitation to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with your inner guidance in a world full of noise. In this episode of The Resetter Podcast, Dr. Mindy Pelz sits down with hormone expert Dr. Sonya Jensen for a deeply honest conversation about how hormones shape our emotions, behaviors, relationships, and sense of self across every stage of a woman's life. Together, they explore why emotional reactions intensify during hormonal transitions, how resentment and rage often have ancestral roots, and why symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, and overwhelm are not character flaws, but signals from the body asking for support. Dr. Sonya introduces her "HER Cycle" framework, showing how hormones, emotions, and relationships are always influencing one another and how healing often begins in the body, not the mind. In this solo episode, Dr. Mindy Pelz shares Chapter One of her new book Age Like a Girl and breaks down the real purpose of menopause through neuroscience, hormones, and evolution. If you've been trying to lose weight and feel stuck, this episode will reframe everything you've been taught. In this solo episode, Dr. Mindy Pelz explains why weight loss is not a calorie problem, it's a hormonal one. She breaks down how insulin and cortisol control fat storage, why vitamin D acts like a hormone in the body, and how one simple morning habit can help reset your circadian rhythm and support stubborn fat loss. Dr. Mindy introduces the idea of a weight loss toolbox, reminding you that no single strategy works for everyone. She also answers listener questions about weight loss plateaus, fasting challenges, cravings, and building muscle while fasting. In this powerful episode, I'm joined by Emma Heming-Willis and Helen Christoni for an honest conversation about women's brain health, dementia risk, emotional overload, and the profound changes women experience in midlife. Women are nearly twice as likely as men to develop Alzheimer's disease, yet most are never taught how menopause, estrogen decline, chronic stress, caregiving, and emotional suppression impact the female brain. In this episode, we unpack the difference between dementia and Alzheimer's, why brain changes can begin decades before diagnosis, and why midlife is a critical window for awareness and prevention, not fear. We also explore how nervous system dysregulation shows up as irritability, withdrawal, resentment, or burnout, why so many women feel disconnected from themselves in their 40s and 50s, and how telling the truth, emotionally and relationally, becomes essential for both brain and body health. Hormone Replacement Therapy is back in the spotlight, and many women are asking the same questions: Is it safe? Is it right for me? And why does it still feel so confusing? In this solo episode, Dr. Mindy Pelz breaks down what really happened after the Women's Health Initiative study, why the black box warning was added and later removed, and what newer research has clarified about HRT, timing, hormone type, and delivery method. She explains why lifestyle and metabolic health are the missing pieces in this conversation and why HRT should never be viewed as a standalone solution. What actually happens inside your body when you don't eat for 72 hours? Fasting for three days has become one of the most talked-about healing tools — but it's also one of the most misunderstood. Some people believe it's dangerous. Others think it's a quick fix. The truth lives somewhere in between. In this solo episode, I walk you step-by-step through what happens in the body during a 72-hour fast, from blood sugar shifts and ketone production to autophagy, inflammation reduction, immune system renewal, and brain healing. This episode is designed to educate, not pressure. We'll talk about who should and should not attempt a longer fast, why preparation matters, how women should approach fasting differently than men, and how to use fasting as a powerful reset. This episode also serves as a foundational resource for our upcoming FREE 3-Day Water Fast with Hay House, starting January 5, 2026. Big Wellness is booming and middle-aged women are the target. In this solo episode of The Resetter Podcast, I break down why the wellness industry has exploded, why women in midlife are especially vulnerable to being sold quick fixes, and how to stop outsourcing your health to supplements, influencers, and viral advice. After reading a New York Times article titled "Big Wellness Loves Middle-Aged Women," I wanted to give you a framework for thinking critically about what you're being sold, whether it's a supplement, a biohack, or even a medication. This episode is not about telling you what to buy or what to believe. It's about teaching you how to think for yourself, how to prioritize lifestyle first, how to evaluate quality and integrity, why supplements should be cycled, and why no product is ever going to replace the fundamentals. At the end of the day, your lifestyle saves you, not a 90-second reel. Kristen Hawkes' "Grandmother Hypothesis" provides a fascinating perspective on human evolution, menopause, and the unique social structures of humans. This theory posits that the long post-reproductive lifespan of women evolved because grandmothers played a critical role in supporting their descendants. By helping care for grandchildren and providing resources like food, grandmothers enhanced the survival and reproductive success of their families, which indirectly passed on their genes favouring longevity and cooperative behaviour. These contributions are thought to have driven distinct human traits, including increased brain size and social complexity, by encouraging intergenerational support and skill-sharing To view full show notes, more information on our guests, resources mentioned in the episode, discount codes, transcripts, and more, visit https://drmindypelz.com/ep273 Kristen Hawkes PhD MS BA examines foraging and social strategies among hunter-gatherers to shed light on human evolution. Her work includes three projects focused on life history evolution, aging in captive chimpanzees, and understanding fire's effects on foraging payoffs, all informed by ethnographic studies of the Ache in Paraguay and the Hadza in Tanzania. Observations suggest that men's hunting primarily serves status competition rather than provisioning, while grandmothers play a crucial role in supporting their grandchildren, especially when mothers have more children. This aligns with the grandmother hypothesis, which explains human longevity and highlights differences between humans and chimpanzees, such as longer lifespans despite similar fertility rates and a male-biased sex ratio. Mathematical modeling underscores the impact of grandmothering on post-menopausal longevity, shorter birth intervals, and social behavior. Kristen Hawkes continues to collaborate on data collection and analysis to enhance understanding of ancestral foraging strategies and aging in captive chimpanzees. This episode is about using essential oils to target various areas of your health, including menopause, liver and digestive function, and preventive measures against Alzheimer's. Gavin Poulton has been involved in essential oils since 2010. He was introduced to essential oils when he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that affects the liver. He was told he would not live many years without a transplant. As he began to use essential oils, his life began to change and improve quickly. He and Carrie, his wife, created Restore Hope Oils™ in 2020 to provide top-tier essential oils to practitioners and retail customers who sought better options and education for essential oils. Gavin collaborates with researchers, scientists, and wellness practitioners throughout North America. As an Aromatherapist, he formulates the blends of Restore Hope Oils™, combining the latest research with accurate historical data. When he was most sick, he was told he had no options for care or treatment, and this continues to drive him to be a voice to let people know there are options available to bring greater balance to the body. Most of all, he loves to be with Carrie and their four children. They enjoy singing and dancing to the music when dishes or chores need to be done. Gavin and Carrie will continue to create products that support a healthy and hopeful lifestyle while educating on the power of nature through essential oils and other plant-based supplements.
