A young expectant mother. A date night spent cooking dinner and painting canvases for her unborn daughter's nursery. Less than 24 hours later, she was in cardiac arrest, and both she and her unborn child would ultimately die. At first, it appeared to be a tragic medical emergency. Blaise Taylor told 911 dispatchers he believed Jade Benning was suffering from an allergic reaction. But as investigators began piecing together Jade's final hours, a very different story emerged—one involving a phone call to her best friend, toxicology results, and allegations that would ultimately lead to murder charges. In this episode of 13th Juror, we examine the relationship between Jade Benning and Blaise Taylor, the events leading up to that February night, the investigation that followed, and the evidence presented during the Tennessee murder trial. We also break down the prosecution's theory that Jade was intentionally poisoned, the defense's challenges to the investigation and forensic evidence, and the verdict that ultimately decided Blaise Taylor's fate. How do you prove a murder when there are no eyewitnesses? And when a case is built almost entirely on circumstantial evidence, what does it take to convince twelve jurors beyond a reasonable doubt? As always, we leave that decision where it belongs—with the jury. 🎧 Follow 13th Juror Podcast on your favorite podcast platform so you never miss an episode.⭐ If you enjoy the show, please leave a rating and review.📱 Follow Brandi Churchwell and 13th Juror Podcast on social media for case updates, behind-the-scenes content, and upcoming episode announcements.

A confrontation at a high school track meet. A knife pulled in seconds. One teenager dead, another claiming he acted in self-defense. On April 2, 2025, 17-year-old Austin Metcalf was fatally stabbed during a dispute at a track meet in Frisco, Texas. Witnesses described a brief confrontation between Metcalf and fellow student Karmelo Anthony before the encounter turned deadly. What followed was a case that quickly became one of the most debated stories in the country. Supporters argued Anthony acted in self-defense after being confronted and feared for his safety. Others pointed to witness testimony and the circumstances surrounding the stabbing, arguing the evidence told a very different story. In this episode of 13th Juror, we examine the events leading up to the fatal encounter, the investigation, the evidence presented at trial, the self-defense claim, and the arguments made by both sides. We also explore the public reaction, the misinformation that spread online, and the jury's decision that ultimately determined Anthony's fate. How do jurors evaluate a self-defense claim? And when does a perceived threat justify the use of deadly force? As always, we leave that decision where it belongs—with the jury. 🎧 Follow 13th Juror Podcast on your favorite podcast platform so you never miss an episode.⭐ If you enjoy the show, please leave a rating and review.📱 Follow Brandi Churchwell and 13th Juror Podcast on social media for case updates, behind-the-scenes content, and upcoming episode announcements.
When a teenage girl disappeared from her Arkansas home in the middle of the night, her parents immediately feared she had been taken by the man accused of sexually abusing her. Months earlier, 67-year-old Michael Fosler had been arrested and charged with 43 felony counts involving a child. Despite the allegations, he was released on bond while awaiting trial. Then, on October 8, 2024, everything came to a head. What followed was a frantic search, a pursuit through rural Lonoke County, and a confrontation that left Fosler dead. Authorities charged Aaron Spencer with murder. Supporters rallied behind him, arguing he was a father trying to protect his child. Prosecutors alleged he crossed a line and took justice into his own hands. In this episode of 13th Juror, we examine the allegations against Fosler, the events leading up to that night, the evidence investigators uncovered, and the legal battle that followed. Where is the line between protection and vigilantism? And what happens when a family believes the justice system has failed them? Part 7: The DefenseThe case against Letecia has been presented, and now it's time for the jury to hear the defense. There are two doctors who testify, including one high profile doctor who causes a HUGE stir in this case. The jury will watch clips of Letecia's interviews with the doctor, including one clip where Letecia turns into her other personality, Maria Sanchez, and describes what happened to Gannon. In January of 2020 11-year-old Gannon Stauch is reported missing by his stepmother Letecia in Colorado Springs, CO, sparking a massive search effort involving volunteers, as well as multiple law enforcement agencies. As the community searches for signs of the missing child, police, and Gannon's father Al, turn their attention to the bizarre behavior of stepmom Letecia, who was the last person to see him alive. As the investigation heats up, Letecia hits the road in a rental van, driving cross country with her teenage daughter to start a new life. Letecia is arrested on March 2, 2020, in Myrtle Beach, SC and charged with Gannon's death. On March 17th, maintenance workers find Gannon's remains in a suitcase under a bridge near Pensacola, FL- more than 1,300 miles away from his home.Letecia begins to tell story after story- each more outrageous than the last. Letecia blames anyone and everyone- from the drug cartel to neighborhood workers, to sex traffickers- before finally pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. The trial, which lasted 5 weeks, began in April of 2023, and each witness brought out wild new details that made the story even more unbelievable. In this seven-part series, we will walk through the background of this blended family, the search for Gannon, what happened when Letecia went on the run, her eventual arrest, and the bizarre trial that lit social media on fire. #JusticeForGannonVisit our website at https://www.13thjurorpodcast.comYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@brandichurchwellTwitter:13th Juror: @13thJurorPodBrandi: @BrandiNChurchTikTok:Brandi: @BrandiChurchwell13th13th Juror: @13thJurorPodcastPlease Note: All content including the presentation thereof on this channel is the property of Brandi Churchwell Media, LLC and protected by U.S. and international copyright laws. He then walked outside, called 911, gave them the address, and told them he was sorry, he "had to get rid of the devil".56 year old Lisa Bunce tragically lost her life that night, but Sanda- her best friend- survived to testify against Murdock. It took more than 5 eventful years for this case to make it to a jury. During trial, Sanda gives emotional testimony and explains what happened that night. Then, Murdock shocks everyone when he takes the stand- and his defense, is NOT what I was expecting. It's one of the most polarizing cases in true crime history, and it's still not over. A 16 year veteran of the Boston Police Department, left to die in one of the biggest blizzards in Massachusetts history. Prosecution charged his girlfriend, 42 year old Karen Read, with his murder, claiming she hit him with her car during a fight and left him to die in the cold. The defense says Read is being framed, set up to take the fall by one of the most powerful families in this Boston suburb- all to protect one of their own. There are discrepancies in statements, missing camera footage, and deep family ties to everyone from the lead investigator to the attorney general’s office, to the judge. With every new piece of evidence, a new controversy arises. The first trial ended in a hung jury, and now both sides are prepping for trial number two, with a new prosecutor, and an addition to the defense team. Is there a conspiracy to frame Karen Read? In May of 2016, a man is gunned down in the street walking home from a concert in the park. Louisville rapper Brice Rhodes shoots the man thinking there is a bounty on his head, but doesn't realize he has the wrong guy. Teen brothers Larry and Maurice, only 14 and 16 years old, were with Rhodes at the time. When Rhodes gets word the boys may have told their family about the murder, he kills them in such a brutal way that he became known as one of Louisville's most notorious criminals in recent years. Rhodes courtroom antics made headlines when he taunted the boys' mother in court, laughing at her and blowing her kisses. He threatened to kill the judge, spat on his lawyer, attacked other inmates in jail, as well as multiple corrections officers. His antics became so bad that he was forced to wear a stun cuff during trial. The details of this case are both heartbreaking and outrageous. This is the story of 14-year-old Larry Ordway, his brother 16-year-old Maurice “Reece” Gordon, and 40 year old father of two Christopher Jones, and the trial of Brice Rhodes.

Retired Navy pilot Doug Benefield lost his wife from heart complications in December of 2015, when their daughter Eva was only 14 years old. Nine months later, Doug meets Ashley Byers at a political fundraiser. After only 13 days, the 54 year old businessman marries the 24 year old former ballerina, during a secret ceremony in Charleston, South Carolina. Together they founded American National Ballet company, but after less than a year of marriage, Ashley walked out on Doug, and the company, on the day it was set to launch. Less than one year together resulted in three years of court and custody battles. There were allegations of domestic violence, stalking, child abuse, and even poisoning. In September of 2020, Doug was at Ashley's mom's house, helping load a U-Haul to move across country, when Ashley shot and killed him. She claimed self-defense, though she had no injuries and said Doug had never hit her before. Was this self-defense in a toxic relationship, or a murder over custody battle? Three young men found executed at the gates of a remote quarry in Wisconsin. Police had no suspects and no leads, until a woman walks into the Sheriff's office and says not only does she have information, but she drove the victims there and witnessed the whole thing. Two men were charged with the execution style deaths of Nemo Yang, Peng Lor, and Trevor Maloney in July 2021, and each blame the other as the trigger man. Thao's first trial ended in a hung jury, and this summer he faced a jury of his peers for these three murders for a second time. Conspiracy in Canton: Episode 4 - Fighting For TechnologyAnyone who has spent any time watching true crime can tell you technology is one of the primary ways law enforcement agencies are able to solve crimes. Location data, surveillance videos, call records, even health apps are all just one subpoena away from providing authorities with a second by second timeline of your every move. Witnesses may be unreliable, but data doesn’t lie. There have been a lot of things we’ve talked about so far that have raised some questions throughout the initial phases of this investigation. The controversial case of Karen Read gets more interesting as we take a look at the searches done following John’s death. One of the largest blizzards in Boston history was moving in, causing less than ideal conditions for a search. The first search, with only a couple of inches of snowfall on the ground and daylight working in their favor, turned up broken cocktail glass pieces and 6 drops of frozen blood. SERT team comes in 12 hours later, after 2 feet of snow has fallen and the sun has set, and they suddenly find pieces of Karen’s taillight AND John’s missing shoe. Is this coincidence? Or conspiracy? Please Note: All content including the presentation thereof on this channel is the property of 13th Juror and protected by U.S. and international copyright laws. It’s one of the most polarizing cases in true crime right now. A 16 year veteran of the Boston Police Department, left to die in one of the biggest blizzards in Massachusetts history. Prosecution has charged his girlfriend, 42 year old Karen Read, with his murder, claiming she hit him with her car during a fight and left him to die in the cold. The defense says Read is being framed, set up to take the fall by one of the most powerful families in this Boston suburb- all to protect one of their own. There are discrepancies in statements, missing camera footage, and deep family ties to everyone from the lead investigator, to the attorney general’s office, to the judge. With every new piece of evidence, a new controversy arises. In episode one, we will do an introduction to this case, paying attention to the timeline and the immediate discrepancies in statements and court documents. We will look at the theories presented by both sides, along with the evidence that supports and contradicts it. We will dig into what it is about this case that has social media so split, and why each side is so passionate in their beliefs. During this season, we will take a deep dive into the evidence- one controversial piece at a time- analyzing both sides in hopes of discovering the truth, and finally seeing justice for John O’Keefe. Her mom, Rita, had been named 2014 Teacher of the Year in Walterboro’s Black Street Early Education Center. Video obtained from Larry’s house, however, showed that they had taken Cristina in the house with them, then took her back out to the car and left her there for hours, even leaving the house in another car and returning home later.Cristina was born with severe intellectual and physical disabilities that left her unable to verbally communicate, and she was confined to a wheelchair, leaving her unable to remove herself from the hot car. Part 6: The TrialIt's finally time for the state to present its case against Letecia- but changing her plea from "Not Guilty" to "Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity", changes EVERYTHING. The prosecution no longer has to prove Letecia murdered Gannon, they have to prove she was sane when she did it. During trial, Al presents an emotional testimony, the defense throws Letecia's daughter Harley under the bus, and some major bombshells are dropped in an interview Letecia did with a doctor. Plus, Letecia's bad courtroom behavior frustrates the judge, the prosecutors, and the jury.In January of 2020 11-year-old Gannon Stauch is reported missing by his stepmother Letecia in Colorado Springs, CO, sparking a massive search effort involving volunteers, as well as multiple law enforcement agencies. Part 5: TrappedIt's been 3 weeks since Gannon was last seen alive, and with a mountain of evidence piling up against Letecia, she's feeling more trapped than ever. In desperation, she offers to take a polygraph test for Al, and tries to enlist the help of a new ally to lie for her. But when Letecia gets word that Gannon's remains have been located, she realizes she's even more trapped than she thought- and she comes up with a new plan to try to escape responsibility for what she's done.In January of 2020 11-year-old Gannon Stauch is reported missing by his stepmother Letecia in Colorado Springs, CO, sparking a massive search effort involving volunteers, as well as multiple law enforcement agencies. Part 4: The CallsLetecia knows that all eyes- and suspicion- are aimed at her. Al and the police are desperate to find Gannon, and Letecia is desperate to avoid being the only suspect. Her story about Eguardo the carpet guy didn't pan out, so Letecia changes up her story- over and over- each one, wilder than the next. As law enforcement guides Al on a series of recorded calls with Letecia, she comes up with a new plan to make her estranged husband start to believe her.
