Mark 3:1–6 In today’s story, Jesus enters a synagogue on the Sabbath and meets a man with a shriveled hand. While others watch closely—waiting to see if Jesus will break their rules—Jesus does something unexpected. He heals. But instead of celebrating, the religious leaders become angry. Why? Because they cared more about their rules… than people. In this episode, we explore what the Sabbath was meant to be, what the Pharisees misunderstood, and what it means to truly love God and others. 🔑 Key Truth God’s laws are rooted in love—and they teach us how to love Him and others well. Try asking your kids these questions this week: 👉 “Why does this rule exist?” 👉 “Does following it help us love others?” 👉 “Have you ever heard someone use one of God’s laws in the wrong way—maybe adding to it or twisting it?” Want to join the impact? Scripture: Mark 2:18–28 In today’s episode, we continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark and hear Jesus answer some questions. Why weren’t His disciples fasting? Why did the Pharisees get upset when they picked grain on the Sabbath? And what was Jesus showing everyone about God’s law, grace, and what it really means to belong to Him? Kids will learn that Jesus did not come to patch up an old system. He came to bring something new. In this episode, kids will hear: What fasting means Why Jesus compared Himself to a bridegroom What new wine and old wineskins mean Why the Pharisees were upset about the Sabbath Key truth: Because we are accepted in Jesus, we obey out of love—not out of fear. Luke 22:31-34, 54-62, & John 21:1-17 In today’s episode, we follow one of Jesus’ closest friends—Peter. From the quiet upper room, to the dark courtyard, and finally to breakfast on the beach, we’ll hear how Peter made a big promise to Jesus… and then broke it. But the story doesn’t end there. After Jesus rises from the dead, He lovingly gives Peter a second chance. This is a beautiful story of sadness, forgiveness, and hope—a reminder that Jesus never gives up on us, even when we mess up. Big Ideas for Little Hearts: Jesus knows we’ll make mistakes, but He still loves us deeply. Peter denied Jesus three times, but Jesus forgave him and gave him a new job. Seeing the risen Jesus changed Peter from afraid to brave! No matter how far we run, Jesus welcomes us back and gives us a fresh start. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To join the team supporting this podcast and also enjoy weekly bonus content PLUS access to the entire library of bonus content go here and click bonus content. Mark 2:13–17 & Romans 3:10 In today’s episode, we continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark and meet a man named Levi, a tax collector whose life changed the moment Jesus said two simple words: “Follow me.” But what happened next surprised the Pharisees. Instead of avoiding sinners, Jesus sat down and shared a meal with them. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked a question that still matters today: Why would a holy teacher eat with sinners? We unpack what Jesus means when he said “ “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Help Keep Kids Bible Stories Free for Families Kids Bible Stories has shared over 400 Bible stories with children around the world, helping kids grow in their understanding of God’s Word. Scripture: Mark 2:1–12 Jesus returns to Capernaum and a massive crowd gathers so tightly packed that there isn’t even room outside the door. While Jesus preaches the Word, four friends arrive carrying a paralyzed man—so desperate to get him to Jesus that they climb onto the roof, dig through it, and lower their friend down right in front of Him. But instead of healing the man first, Jesus says something surprising: “Son, your sins are forgiven.” This becomes the beginning of controversy because the teachers of the law know that only God can forgive sins. Jesus responds by showing that He has authority on earth to forgive sins, and then proves it by commanding the man to stand, pick up his mat, and walk home. This story reminds us that Jesus cares about our bodies and our needs, but our greatest need is to be forgiven and made right with God—something Jesus accomplished through His death and resurrection. Mark 1:1–8 Before Jesus begins teaching, performing miracles, or gathering crowds, God sends someone first to prepare the way. In this episode, kids meet John the Baptist—the “voice in the wilderness”—and travel with families to the Jordan River to hear his message and see people being baptized. Along the way, we learn what repentance means, why John said he wasn’t even worthy to untie Jesus’ sandals, and how all of this was part of God’s plan from the very beginning. We’ll also hear a true story about the Titanic and discover why warnings aren’t meant to scare us—they’re meant to save us. Today we begin a brand new series through the Gospel of Mark! Because we’re starting a new series, this episode is all about helping kids understand the book before we dive into the stories. When we read a book of the Bible, it’s important to ask: Who wrote it? Who was it written to? And why was it written? In this episode, we discover what a “gospel” is, why there are four Gospels, and that Mark wrote down the apostle Peter’s eyewitness stories about Jesus. We also learn that Mark’s big question is: Who is Jesus? This episode is like laying the foundation before we start building. It prepares us for everything that’s coming next as we begin this journey. ------------ 2 Minute Survey We’re running a very short, listener survey to help us understand our audience and keep Kids Bible Stories going strong. While this podcast is mostly funded by listener support, our sponsors help keep it free for families, and this survey helps them help us. It’s simple, it’s quick, and it’s a really practical way you can support the show. Thanks for helping ------ To connect with me go here
📖 Scripture Matthew 2 & John 10:10 In today’s episode of Kids Bible Stories, we continue the Christmas story and discover that not everyone was happy about Jesus’ birth. While the Magi followed the star and worshiped Him, King Herod felt threatened and refused to bow down to the true King. When Herod realized that he had been outsmarted by the Magi, he was furious and gave orders to destroy all the boys in Bethlehem and the surrounding towns—hoping this terrible plan would get rid of Jesus. Through the story of the Magi, King Herod, and God’s unstoppable plan, kids will learn one important truth: not everyone wants to follow Jesus—some want to be their own king. Of course, there are many reasons people resist God, and it would take far more than one episode to explore them all. In this story, we focus on just one: the human desire to be our own god- thinking we know best. Jesus reminds us that He came to give us life to the full (John 10:10). Following Him isn’t about losing freedom—it’s about being rescued into a life filled with forgiveness, love, and joy. This episode invites kids to reflect on everyday choices—like patience, honesty, and humility—and to consider what it means to let Jesus be King of their hearts. ****PARENTS: I also want you to know that I believe Scripture clearly teaches that only God can change a heart. It is the work of the Holy Spirit. ‘“The biblical picture is that God does the decisive work of heart transplant and heart circumcision and heart unhardening, and we are immediately participants in this miracle as conscious, intentional, willing actors renouncing the old heart, cutting away with all of the opposition we can muster the old life, and embracing the new and feeding the new tenderness of heart on God’s word and by God’s Spirit.”-John Piper. **** This is a great article you can read on this topic!***** with scripture cited so you can reference it. 🎁 This podcast is free because of the generosity of families like yours. James 1:19-25 Today's story reminds us that if we hear God's word but don't actually obey, then we are like a man who looks in the mirror, walks away, and forgets what he looks like. 📖 Scriptures Referenced Numbers 24:17, Matthew 2:2, Luke 2:11, & John 3:16–17 🐪 Summary In this special Christmas episode, we take a break from our usual Kids Bible Stories format to explore the story of Jesus’ birth from a fresh and cozy perspective—through the eyes of three very curious camels. We begin by helping kids understand an important and often-missed detail of the Christmas story: While the shepherds visited Jesus the night He was born, the Wise Men arrived later, when Jesus was a little older. Even so, everyone who came—shepherds and Wise Men alike—came for the same reason: to worship the Savior God promised. From there, we invite listeners into a gentle imagination story, wondering what it might have been like for the camels who carried the Wise Men’s treasures across deserts, followed the brilliant star, and witnessed the fulfillment of ancient prophecies. As the camels travel beneath the shining star, kids hear Scripture woven throughout the story, including the prophecy of the coming King, the Wise Men’s search for Jesus, and the beautiful truth that the greatest King arrived in humility—not in a palace, but in a manger. The episode closes by reminding listeners that God’s greatest gift is Jesus, sent out of love to rescue and save the world. ----------------------- 🎁 This podcast is free because of the generosity of families like yours. Luke 2:1–12, Isaiah 11:1–2 , & 2 Corinthians 8:9 In today’s Advent story, we step into the peaceful, wonder-filled night when Jesus was born. Your children will hear Luke 2 come to life with rich imagery—dusty roads, crowded Bethlehem streets, gentle animals in the stable, and the breathtaking moment when Jesus was born. We explain what a census is, why it sent Joseph and Mary on their journey, and how Isaiah promised Jesus’ birth long before it happened. His humble arrival shows kids that God’s kingdom is often at odds with what the world values and that through such a simple beginning came the greatest gift we could never earn: salvation. Isaiah 7:13-14 and 9:6-7 Welcome to our very first Christmas episode of 2025! Whether you’re a long-time listener or brand-new, we’re so glad you’re here. Today we begin Advent, a special four-week season where Christians prepare their hearts to celebrate Jesus’ birth and look forward to His promised return. We’ll explore what “Advent” means, why it’s important, and how this season invites us to slow down, reflect, and wait with hope. We’ll also hear an incredible true story from 1947—when a young shepherd boy discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls, some of the oldest copies of the Bible ever found. Among them was the Book of Isaiah, matching what we read today almost word for word. This amazing discovery reminds us that God’s Word has been faithfully preserved for thousands of years and that we can trust His promises. Through Isaiah’s ancient prophecies, we’ll see how God foretold the coming of Jesus long before He was born—and how Advent helps us celebrate that promise fulfilled. John 4:43–53 In today’s story, Jesus meets a royal official whose young son is gravely ill. The father begs Jesus to come heal him—but instead, Jesus simply says, “Go, your son will live.” At that moment, the man faces a choice: will he demand proof, or trust Jesus’ word alone? Without any signs or dramatic displays, he believes—and begins the long walk home. Along the way, his servants run to meet him with incredible news: his son is healed! This story reminds us that Jesus’ power is not limited by distance or circumstance. His word alone brings life, hope, and healing. Parent Reflection: Faith often grows when we trust before we see. Talk with your child about times they’ve had to believe God’s promises even when they didn’t see the answer right away. You might share a personal story of your own—something you prayed for that required patience and trust. ---------------- 🎁 Be part of what makes this podcast possible! 📖 Scripture: Matthew 1:18–23 & Isaiah 7:14 In today’s episode, we discover one of the most comforting names of God — Immanuel, which means “God with us.” Through the story of Joseph’s dream, children learn how God’s ancient promise through the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 7:14) was fulfilled when Jesus was born. This episode connects the prophecy of old with the miracle of Christmas, showing that God always keeps His promises and is with us. Kids will be able to connect this story to their own lives—knowing that God is with them on both the good days and the hard ones. Through simple, relatable examples—like going out for pizza or having to say goodbye to a loved one—I help children see what faith looks like in their everyday experiences. Even when they’re nervous about a doctor visit or feeling sad, this episode reminds them that God’s presence never leaves. ------------------------ 🎁 Be part of what makes this podcast possible! Scripture: Exodus 3:1–14 🕊️ In this episode, kids will discover one of the most powerful names of God — Yahweh — through the story of Moses and the burning bush. Together, we’ll explore what God meant when He said, “I AM who I AM,” and why that name tells us something incredible about who God is: that He has no beginning and no end. Children will learn that when they see LORD written in all capital letters in the Old Testament, it’s the translated form of God’s name, Yahweh. Through vivid storytelling, they’ll hear how Moses encountered God on holy ground, felt awe and wonder at His presence, and learned that Yahweh is the God who always is. This episode helps kids wrestle with the big question, “Who made God?” and gently leads them to understand that nothing and no one made Him — because He always was. It ends with a comforting truth: the same Yahweh who spoke to Moses is still with us today — unchanging, loving, and faithful. -------------------- 🎁 Join the team: Visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and click Support & Bonus Content You can: 💛 Give a one-time gift 🙌 Join Patreon for just $5/month and receive weekly bonus content 📅 Or choose a discounted onetime payment annual plan I also have Kids Bible Stories Bedtime & Kids Bible Stories Espanol now available, FREE, wherever you get your podcasts! -------------------- Interested in advertising on the show? We’ll travel through 4 places in the Bible to discover that God didn’t just make us; He chose us and adopted us into His family through Jesus! Children will hear how Paul and John describe God as a caring Father who listens, comforts, and provides for His children. They’ll be reminded that, no matter what their family looks like here on earth, God’s family always has room for them — because through Jesus, we all belong. ------------- 🎁 Join the team: Visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and click Support & Bonus Content You can: 💛 Give a one-time gift 🙌 Join Patreon for just $5/month and receive weekly bonus content 📅 Or choose a discounted onetime payment annual plan I also have Kids Bible Stories Bedtime & Kids Bible Stories Espanol now available, FREE, wherever you get your podcasts! -------------------- Interested in advertising on the show? Luke 15:1–7 & John 10:11 In today’s episode, we continue our Names of God series with “The Good Shepherd.” We’ll hear Jesus’ story about the lost sheep from Luke 15 and discover what it means when He says in John 10:11, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” Through gentle storytelling and vivid imagery, children will learn what shepherds do, why sheep need so much care, and how Jesus is our Good Shepherd who seeks and saves His lost sheep. This episode helps kids understand that: We are the sheep — easily distracted, often wandering off. Jesus is the Good Shepherd — the one who goes after us, finds us, and carries us home. He did all the work to save us — even giving His life on the cross so that we could belong to Him forever. Genesis 1 & 2: 1-2 In today’s episode, we continue our series The Names of God by learning about the special name Elohim. This Hebrew word means Mighty One, Strong One. Did you know that the very first verse of the Bible begins with this name? We’ll walk through Genesis 1 and 2, hearing again and again how Elohim spoke the universe into existence—light, sky, land, plants, stars, animals, and people—out of nothing at all. As we listen, we’ll discover that Elohim is not only powerful enough to create the heavens and the earth, but also powerful enough to care for you. When you see the stars at night or enjoy petting your dog remember: our God, Elohim, is the Creator of everything—and He calls you precious. 🎁 Join the team: Visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and click Support & Bonus Content You can: 💛 Give a one-time gift 🙌 Join Patreon for just $5/month and receive weekly bonus content 📅 Or choose a discounted onetime payment annual plan I also have Kids Bible Stories Bedtime & Kids Bible Stories Espanol now available, FREE, wherever you get your podcasts! -------------------- Interested in advertising on the show? John 1:42, Genesis 2:7 & 19-20 Today we begin a brand-new series called The Names of God! Before we dive into God’s special names, we’re first asking: What’s in a name? Why do names matter? We’ll discover how names show relationship, how God sometimes changes names in the Bible, and how names show meaning. This episode sets the stage for the rest of our series by helping kids understand that names aren’t just labels — they tell us about identity, relationship, and character. ------------------------------- 🎁 Join the team:Visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and click Support & Bonus Content You can: 💛 Give a one-time gift 🙌 Join Patreon for just $5/month and receive weekly bonus content 📅 Or choose a discounted onetime payment annual plan I also have Kids Bible Stories Bedtime & Kids Bible Stories Espanol now available, FREE, wherever you get your podcasts! -------------------- Interested in advertising on the show? Genesis 37-50, Romans 12:9, Isaiah 5:20m Proverbs 2:14-15, Proverbs 8:13, Matthew 5:44, Ephesians 6:10-12, 2 Corinthians 4:7–9, John 16:33 In today’s special episode, we talk about evil in our world but keep details age-appropriate and I point them to what God’s Word says about it. My children have been asking really good questions about this due to events and I thought we should address it. Using the story of Joseph, the cross of Jesus, and even a recent story, we discover four big truths: God can use what was meant for evil for good. We must hate what is evil and cling to what is good. We are called to love our enemies and fight with prayer, truth, and love. We have real hope because of Jesus. This episode may feel a little different than our usual storytelling, but I believe it will help children think biblically when they have questions about hard things. My hope is that today’s episode gives you a strong starting place and sparks meaningful conversations with your children. Matthew 6:19–24, Proverbs 22:9, 1 Timothy 6:17–18 In this episode, we hear Jesus’ words about treasure and our eye…..huh? At first, it can sound confusing — what do our eyes have to do with treasure? But Jesus is teaching us how to see clearly: to treasure God above money and things. Kids will understand: Money and things aren’t bad — they can be tools to help others. What matters most is how we see them and how we use them. A “good eye” sees the truth: God is more beautiful and precious than anything money can buy. 🎁 Join the team:Visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and click Support & Bonus Content You can: 💛 Give a one-time gift 🙌 Join Patreon for just $5/month and receive weekly bonus content 📅 Or choose a discounted onetime payment annual plan I also have Kids Bible Stories Bedtime & Kids Bible Stories Espanol now available, FREE, wherever you get your podcasts! -------------------- Interested in advertising on the show? Luke 10:1–4, 17–20 In this week’s episode Jesus sends out 72 followers to share the good news. When they return, they are amazed — even the demons obeyed in Jesus’ name! But Jesus teaches them something even greater: “Do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Jesus sent out 72 workers to prepare the way and tell people that God’s kingdom had come. The disciples were amazed by the power they saw, like superheroes in real life. Jesus reminded them that the greatest joy isn’t power — it’s knowing that our names are written in heaven. If you believe in Jesus, you belong to Him forever. That’s better than any superpower. ----------------------------- 🎁 Join the team:Visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and click Support & Bonus Content You can: 💛 Give a one-time gift 🙌 Join Patreon for just $5/month and receive weekly bonus content 📅 Or choose a discounted onetime payment annual plan I also have Kids Bible Stories Bedtime & Kids Bible Stories Espanol now available, FREE, wherever you get your podcasts! -------------------- Interested in advertising on the show? John 6:25–35 In today’s episode we hear Jesus tell the crowd, “I am the Bread of Life.” First, we remember how God fed His people with manna in the wilderness. Then, we hear the crowd ask Jesus for a sign, and He explains that He is the true bread from heaven — the one who can fill our hearts forever. Kids will understand what the word eternal means and we will talk about yummy foods like pizza, ice cream, and lollipops — and how they don’t last forever, but Jesus does. He alone is the one who gives us joy and eternal life. 👉 Parents, today’s takeaway: God is a good Father who gives us wonderful gifts to enjoy, but our hearts are made to love Him most.
Luke 18:1-8 Have you ever prayed for something over and over, and it felt like no one was listening? In today’s episode, we hear Jesus tell a parable — a special story with a deeper meaning — about a woman who didn’t give up. She kept going to a judge who didn’t care about God or people. She begged for justice until he finally gave in. Jesus used this story to teach us something powerful: God is not like that unfair judge. God is good, just, and always listening to our prayers. In this episode, kids will learn: What a parable is. What justice means in words they can understand What it means to be persistent Why Jesus wants us to keep praying and not lose heart. Together we’ll see how God hears us when we pray and promises to make all things right in His perfect timing.

John 3:2, 16-19, 1John 3:1, & 1John 4:19 All of our readings have something in common....they speak of God's love for us. We are reminded of God's promises that hold true even when we do not feel it. The kids think about what having a bad day feels like and we discuss how feelings are important but sometimes, they can trick us to forget the truth. This is where we turn to our Bible and remind ourselves the truth of just how much God loves us regardless of if the day we are having feels like a good one or a bad one. Thanks for listening! 📖 Genesis 39Today’s episode tells the story of Joseph in Egypt from Genesis 39. Joseph worked hard, honored God, and stayed faithful—even when he was far from home, surrounded by people who didn’t know God, and when doing the right thing cost him something. His story reminds us that: God is with us everywhere. We can choose what is right, even when no one is watching. Life isn’t always fair—but God always sees our faithfulness. 👉 Parental Note:This episode includes an age-appropriate adaptation of a sensitive detail from Genesis 39 in order to remain respectful of our young listeners. Join us as we step into the sandals of Joshua — a man about to take on a big new job in a brand-new place. Luke 10:38-42 Today, we hear the story of two sisters — Mary and Martha! They welcomed Jesus into their home. While Martha hurried about making everything just right, Mary quietly sat at Jesus’ feet and listened to every word He said. Jesus loved them both — the busy one and the quiet one — just like He loves you! Sometimes you’ll be like Mary, quietly close to Jesus. Other times you might be like Martha, busy with chores, homework, or sports that are yelling, “Do me first!” But Jesus gently reminds us: putting Him first is what matters most. Kids will hear what that actually looks like and are reminded He doesn’t love you because you work hard — psst! — you don’t have to earn His love. He loves you because you’re His. ---------- ------------ 🎁 Join the team:Visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and click Support & Bonus Content You can: 💛 Give a one-time gift 🙌 Join Patreon for just $5/month and receive weekly bonus content 📅 Or choose a discounted annual plan Your gift will help us reach our goal of 250 new patreon members. Mark 10:35–45 In today’s episode, we hear the surprising story of James and John asking Jesus a very big question — and how the other disciples reacted! Jesus teaches them (and us!) something amazing — true greatness doesn’t come from bossing people around or being first. It comes from serving others, just like Jesus did. He is the King of kings, but He came to help, love, and give His life for us. At the end, we talk about simple ways kids can follow Jesus’ example this week - to keep their eyes open for ways to be a helper. Helpers serve and whether it’s big or small, it makes a difference. They are reminded that when you help someone, you are serving — just like Jesus did. Kids Bible Stories has grown into a global ministry—370+ episodes, Top 50 in the U.S., Top 3 in Saudi Arabia—with no team or studio, just me, fully trusting God. It’s changed lives:A boy in Indonesia learning faith and English, a girl in Germany acting out Bible stories, and a visually impaired child memorizing episodes to win an award. But when I lost all ad funding, I had a choice: run ads or trust this community. I chose you. James 1:1–8 Has your child ever asked, "Why do hard things happen?" In this episode, we explore James 1 and the surprising truth that God can use our trials—yes, even the tough, painful ones—to help us grow stronger in our faith. We compare it to growing pains in our bodies: it may hurt, but it’s often a sign of growth! With an encouraging story about a girl training for a big bike race, we help kids understand what James means when he says to “consider it pure joy” during hard times and the "why" behind it. I also remind young listeners that not all pain means growth—sometimes it’s a sign we need help and they should talk to their parents about it. **PARENTS: Kids Bible Stories isn’t backed by a big studio—just me, handcrafting the stories I wish I had as a child and now create for my own. By God’s grace, we’ve had over 14 million downloads, and we rank in the Top 50 Christian podcasts in the U.S.. This is proof that His Word is reaching little hearts around the world. But I need your help. After losing all ad funding, I chose faith over commercials—trusting the families who love this podcast to keep it going. 📖 Main Scriptures: Leviticus 1:3–4, John 1:29, Hebrews 9:12 Why did people in the Bible sacrifice animals? Wasn’t that a little… strange? In today’s special episode, we explore a question many of you have asked—and the answer helps us understand just how incredible Jesus’ love really is. We’ll travel back to the Garden of Eden, hear about how sin entered the world, and discover why people once used animals to cover their sin. Then we’ll meet someone called The Lamb of God—Jesus—and learn why He came to be the final sacrifice once and for all. Kids will hear the difference between covering sin and cleansing it—and why Jesus' love changes everything. ✨ Big Ideas for Little Hearts: Sin is serious—but God’s love is bigger. Animal sacrifices pointed to Jesus. Jesus didn’t just cover our sin—He takes it away. When we mess up, we go to Jesus—not to a priest with a lamb. Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus lovingly bury Jesus, and guards are posted at the tomb. But on the third day, something incredible happens—Jesus rises from the dead! With awe and joy, the women discover the empty tomb and meet Jesus alive again. Children are reminded that the cross was not the end—Jesus conquered sin and death, just like He said He would. Jesus chose to lay down His life, and by doing so, Jesus took the weight of every sin, past, present, and future. -It's not always as it seems. The cross is not the end of the story. I will also encourage you to listen to all of the episodes in this Easter series in order, as the stories build upon themselves. It starts at #369. This story begins in the garden of Gethsemane and ends with Jesus being arrested. We remember that Jesus could have whispered 1 word and 100’s of angels would have appeared to rescue him BUT he didn’t do this. Why? Because He chose to. He chose to obey God b/c he loves God the father!!!! God’s plan had been there all along to rescue us b/c he loves us that much! Matthew 26, John 13, & 1John 1:9 We begin our Easter series with: Hearing Jesus, the king of kings, serving and loving his disciples by washing their feet. Introduce the betrayal BUT remind kids that Jesus was not alarmed by this. Jesus knows everything and this isn't "throwing off his plans." 2 Kings 4:38-41 We continue our Elisha series as we dive into the scripture about the “Bad Stew.” During a famine in Gilgal, Elisha shows how God can take even the scariest situations and turn them into miracles. When poisonous gourds accidentally get added to a pot of stew for the prophets, God uses Elisha to fix the problem. This story reminds us of God’s power to care for us and teaches the importance of trusting Him, using wisdom, and seeking guidance when we face problems. I also address that God gives us wisdom to make smart choices, and when kids are unsure, they should talk to their parents for guidance. 💌 Share the Love this February 2025! 💌 When you get one, you give one! 💝 Purchase a 1-year Patreon membership and receive a FREE 1-year membership of equal value to gift to someone special. 🎁✨ To connect with us, go here. 2 Kings 4:18-37 & John 9:1-3 In today’s episode, we continue our exciting Elisha series with the incredible story of how God used Elisha to bring a boy back to life! We’ll pick up where we left off: the boy grew up strong and healthy, but one day, tragedy struck. What followed was a journey of faith, hope, and an unforgettable miracle. We discuss what to do when we pray for a miracle and it doesn't happen how we hoped it would. This woman and her son's story ended up beautifully but there were many that same day who lost loved ones too. I also use John 9 to discuss some of the lies kids may hear about the why behind sad events. We are safe and well but are still without Internet and cell phone. This makes it quite difficult to upload or edit episodes for sound effects, music etc. This is not our usual episode but I wanted to get this information out to you as well as encourage the kids from what we have learned during the storm. We have seen God show up in beautiful ways and have seen people be the hands and feet of Christ during it. I hope it encourages kids and reminds them of God's goodness and provision even during storms; whether it's a literal or figurative storm in their life. We appreciate your patience as we await for some of the infrastructure where we live to get up and going. Please pray for those men and women who have been working 15 hour das on the powerlines, fixing the water system, and those helping the community. Please pray for those who lost everything. So many have lost businesses or homes and most don't have flood insurance because this event was such a rare situation. John 12:1-16 Zechariah 9:9 In this final episode of the Lazarus series, we reflect on the events leading up to Jesus’ resurrection. As Passover approaches, Jesus visits Bethany, where He is honored at a dinner hosted by Lazarus and his sisters. Mary anoints Jesus’ feet with expensive perfume, demonstrating her deep reverence, while Judas objects, revealing his ulterior motives. The episode highlights the growing crowds drawn to see Jesus and Lazarus, prompting the chief priests to plot against them. Colossians 3:12-17 & Ephesians 5:20 Today we read Paul's letter to the Colossians. He writes, " And whatever you do, whether in word or action, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." The kids will learn that this really means in whatever we do. We don't give thanks or serve God only when we are having fun or getting a gift. To help them understand, we use real life examples: Instead of complaining that they they have to clean up their toys, they can remember they get to clean them up because they are thankful God gave them toys to clean up. Numbers 27:1-11. Join us on one of Bible's lesser-known scriptures in our new series: "Hidden Gems: The Lesser-Known Stories of the Bible." In this episode, we explore the courageous scripture of the five Daughters of Zelophehad. Join us as we uncover how these remarkable sisters stood up in order to inherit their father’s land; a bold move that led to a historic change in the law. Key Takeaways: Faith in Action: These sisters demonstrated profound faith and determination. Believing that God would provide for them, they took action, which reminds us that faith often requires us to step forward and act. God's Just: The story highlights God’s commitment to justice. When Moses sought God’s guidance, He affirmed the sisters' plea, showing that God values the rights and inheritances of all His people, including women. Kids will remember that this was a first. Most cultures then didn’t value children and women but God changes that. Legacy of Change: The decision in favor of the Daughters of Zelophehad didn’t just affect their immediate situation—it instituted a new law that impacted the entire community. This shows how courageous actions can lead to significant societal changes. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To enjoy the library of bonus content (coloring pages, sheets, memory verse, etc) for the episodes go here and click bonus content. Statistics are showing an increase of worry and anxiety in children. This will be a little different from our usual episode but the Bible has a lot to say about this so we thought we should address it. We will differentiate between fear, worry, and and anxiety and give each emotion their own episode. Today we discuss fear: Are there good fears? ie; fear of fire, or fear of the Lord Can fear lie to us? Why does God tell us not to be afraid? What promise does he give with it **If you would like to hear all of David and Goliath that episode is :#112 "There's no one like you." #307 "What if David had a Bad Attitude" is a shortened version with a different application. Psalm 119:105-112 & John 8:12 In today's episode, we explore the powerful message of Jesus as the ultimate beacon in our lives, shining brighter and truer than any other source. We learned that Jesus describes Himself as "the light of the world," offering us guidance, peace, love, forgiveness, and direction unlike any other. Unlike deceptive lights in the world, like the angler fish's lure, which may seem appealing but lead to harm, Jesus' light is always genuine and life-giving. We also delved into how God's word acts as a lamp for our feet and a light on our path, guiding us through life's journey. This divine light isn't found in the shows we watch, the advice of friends, or the allure of commercials enticing us to desire material things. It's in the Bible, God's word, which always leads us toward what's truly good. We discussed the importance of discerning between the misleading "lights" of the world—like the temptations of consumerism or messages that encourage disrespect—and the one true light, Jesus, who desires what's best for us. Remember, the next time you're faced with a decision or a direction, ask yourself: does this align with the light that Jesus offers? Key Takeaways: Jesus is the true light that guides us with love and truth. God's word is our ultimate source of guidance, not the fleeting attractions of the world. Always test what guides you by comparing it to the teachings of the Bible. Noah didn’t know how it was all going to work but God didn’t say he needed to know. He just needed to have faith to do what he was called to do and God would take care of the rest: including making those animals get along. We also discuss how we are to "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." As christians we won't all look the same, have the same talents and weaknesses and we will disagree at times, but it’s that same love of Jesus, that same goal of following Him that reminds us to work through problems with peace in order to keep working together to help others know Jesus. We will resume our regular episodes next week. Right now, we are humbly reaching out asking for your help. We've worked so hard to keep this podcast free vs charging for the episodes but we have until mid February to gain your support or the podcast can't be sustained as it has been. We've faithfully created this podcast for 6.5 years with over 10.7 million downloads, over 300 episodes, and kids from over 100 countries having FREE access to hearing the Bible come to life in this way. Families download this around 300,000 times a month; we have people in China who listen, families who listen that couldn't' afford to pay per episode, families who say they aren't believers yet their kids still ask to listen! It takes us about 15-20 hrs a week to create 1 episode and now that we've received this game changing news, we have to ask for your help. I didn't want to just ask for donations, we wanted to offer high quality bonus content in exchange; hence the Patreon page. For those of you who have been supporters for months or who've been extremely generous, please know we THANK YOU. YOU have made it possible for us to carry on a few weeks post the big news. Genesis 6:9-14 & John 14:1-2 In our last episode, we discovered that the world had gone wrong, and today we are going to learn how God used Noah who seemed ordinary, but he faithfully walked with God. We put ourselves in Noah's shoes considering what it may have felt like to be him. Noah probably recognized how big this mission was going to be. He would have considered the practical challenges of constructing an ark of such colossal proportions. It may have felt both awe-inspiring and scary yet Noah trusted God and obeyed Him. Kids will hear: Our attitude can be changed if we look for things to be thankful for. If David really had acted ungrateful, he could’ve missed beating Goliath, saving his people, and glorifying God!!!!! 1 Kings 19:19-21 If you have missed any episodes in our Elijah series, I would highly recommend you go back and listen to them because the episodes build upon each other. Today Elijah finds the man who will be taking his place… Elisha. Elijah throws his cloak onto Elisha symbolizing that he is next....tagging him to take his place. We discuss that when God called Elisha, he was doing normal, every day work. Sometimes our work or tasks may seem "normal"( ie: learning to read, helping with the dishes, etc) BUT they all have purpose when we do them with excellence to glorify God AND often God uses those things to prepare us for what's next. In last weeks Elijah episode, we heard that God spoke to Elijah in a whisper and kids have been asking, "Does God still speak to us today?" I will do my best to answer that question today! The kids will learn that: 1. During Elijah's time, they didn't have the entire Bible. 2. The Holy Spirit was sent after Jesus' resurrection (Acts 2:1-4) 3. We have the entire Bible, the written word of God now. 4. Now, believers have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside us (John 14:25-26) We will return to our normal episode format with Elijah next week so tune in! 1Kings 19:9-18 & James 4:8 On today's episode we find Elijah hiding in the cave. Instead of hearing God fuss at Elijah, we hear him as a gentle, loving father asking Elijah what he is doing there. Wind blows, the earth quakes, and fire burns; we see God's mighty power on display but even in that, he is still found in the whisper. God is close enough that Elijah can hear his whisper. 1 Kings 19:1-8 As you have followed along with our Elijah series you've probably noticed Elijah has been obeying God and doing the right things, but today he gets some scary news from Jezebel and now Elijah says he has had enough. God's response to Elijah's cry is beautiful. He doesn't downplay Elijah's feelings or scold him. Instead, he sends an angel to provide food and water. When we are hungry and tired, our emotions can run wild. Sometimes it's those simple provisions of food, water, and rest that seem simple but are exactly what we need for our strength. The kids will hear that Elijah was a real human with real feelings and fears; real needs like food and rest. When we feel like we've had enough, we can talk honestly to God just like Elijah did and God will be right there to listen and comfort us too. 1 Kings 18:40-46 & James 5:17 Today we hear Elijah tell Ahab that the drought is finally ending. Elijah knows the rain is coming but it is not until the seventh time that his servant makes the trip to the sea that there are signs of rain. Elijah faithfully waits and sends his servant to look over and over again. God was with Elijah when things happened immediately like in last week's episode, BUT He's also with him in the waiting. I point out that the Bible says that Elijah was a man like us. That gives us encouragement that we too can pray fervently as he did. 1 Kings 18:16-39 & Exodus 20:3 This episode is full of action when Ahab and Elijah meet again. Elijah asks the people "How long will you try to serve both Baal and God?" The people have wandered from God and God is calling them back to His loving arms. Elijah has set a challenge; their Baal versus God. Tune in to see what happens. We will discuss: 1. That Elijah didn't do this to make much of himself but to make much of God. You hear that in his speech. 2. God is patient. He calls the people back to Him. 1 Kings 18: 1-16If you have missed any Elijah episodes, please go back & listen because these build upon them selves. Today we meet faithful Obadiah who hid the Lord's prophets in caves to protect them from Jezebel. We connect Obadiah's actions to what St Augustine said, “ Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is still wrong even if everyone else is doing it.” Many of you are about to start a brand new school year. As you start, I want you to remember the story of Obadiah and Elijah. Some days at school you may feel like your family is the only one who thinks and acts the way God wants us to, it’s still right even if it seems like you’re the only one AND remember this, the enemy would love for you to believe the lie that you’re the only ones left doing what is right, loving and obeying God. That is not true though. In today's story and all throughout the Bible you can hear over and over again that there is always a remaining group of people who love and follow Jesus. You aren’t alone. Luke 4:1-13 This is part 1 in our short series where we find Jesus being tempted in the desert by the devil. We will learn that the devil is always a slick and slimy one trying to twist God's words. The devil tries to tempt Jesus into proving that He really is God's son. Of course Jesus is God's son! Jesus knows this truth and does not need to prove anything to the devil so He does not fall for it. We learn that we too can remember the truth of whose we are: we are loved children of God. We apply this truth to help us w/ pride or the feeling to prove ourselves. To connect, with me, simply go to kbspodcast.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. 1 Kings 14:20-31, 1 Kings 15: 1-15, & Psalm 136: 1-4 Out of respect for each families ages and stages of life, I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures yourself to see what’s appropriate for your family. The Solomon episodes also build upon themselves so please go back and listen to ones you may have missed. Today we went through a little bit of a family tree as we followed the kings. We find that most of these kings follow in their father's footsteps and do not follow God. Nevertheless we hear that God does not withdraw His love and is faithful. He kept Jerusalem safe, sticking to His promise we heard Him give David many episode ago. The kids are reminded that God's love never changes. We see this evidence as we hear today's events and read Psalm 136. We have 1 more episode in our Solomon series. 1 Kings 13:1-10, 33-34 & Numbers 8:16-19 Today we hear King Jeroboam's hand suddenly become paralyzed but then miraculously healed when the man of God prays for it. This still does not change Jeroboam's heart and he continues to do evil. We take note that even though Jeroboam still seems like the bad guy, the man of God prayed for him. 1 Kings 12: 25-32 & Exodus 32:1-4 If you’ve missed the previous Solomon episodes, please go back and listen or you may be confused as to how we got where we are in today’s story. It is listed as Solomon part I. Today, we hear King Jeroboam set up 2 golden calves as idols for the people in his kingdom. We define what idols are and also prompt the kids to talk with their families about: 1. Ways to grow your love for God 2. Discuss the shows you watch and see if you notice characters idolizing things. 3. Talk about what it looks like to like something versus loving something. God is a loving father & it’s His pleasure to give us good things & see us enjoy them but there’s a difference b/n enjoying something and loving it more than God. 1 Kings 12:20-24 & Romans 14:11The kingdom is divided: Solomon’s son Rehoboam is king over the southern kingdom, Judah while Jeroboam is king over northern kingdom, Israel. King Rehoboam is not happy about this and assembles an army to win back his kingdom. Will they battle OR does God have a different plan for their lives? We discuss the fact that God says "This is my doing." We are reminded God is always in control and has plans for our lives even when we can't always see it or feel it. We can trust his control and His plans. Why do I trust Him? I trust Him because I can look to the cross to see the His rescue plan for us. The cross reminds me of the cost Jesus paid, the love we are given, and the salvation we didn't earn or deserve. All of this reminds me, I can trust God's plans. Please join me in helping with the hunger crisis in Somalia. For just $12, you can help feed a family for an entire month! 1 Kings 12:1- 17 Today we hear how the kingdom becomes divided and review the sections each king rules, it's name, and the tribes of each. We also point out that the Bible says these events are brought about by the Lord, that He might fulfill his word, which the Lord spoke by Ahijah to Jeroboam. It reminds me there will be times in life where it's not always as it seems. I imagine some in the kingdom were upset and concerned that the kingdom was dividing, but we can trust that God is in complete control. He just told them that the situation they are going through was from Him. He was still in control and had plans that they couldn’t quite understand. 1 Kings11:1-6, 9-13, 26-43, & Luke 1:31-33 In order to respect each families ages and stages of life I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures listed so you can include what’s appropriate for your family. Today we hear what happens at the end of Solomon's reign. Though Solomon sinned, making us wonder how the promise could ever be kept, the kids will see the Gospel woven throughout the Bible as they hear again the promise is fulfilled in the one who was born that Christmas day....Jesus. Jesus Christ will sit on the throne and His kingdom will have no end. What wonderful news! Thanks for listening and sharing the Bible with your children! 1 Kings 10:1-14, 22-24, & Ecclesiastes 2:1-11 Today we begin to comprehend just how wealthy Solomon was. With his wealth and his wisdom, Solomon tells us anything he saw and wanted, he got. This might sound incredible but Solomon learned a very valuable lesson that everything is meaningless without God. Things or fame, none of that will satisfy us fully because what we are really searching for is God. The Creator of our souls is the one who satisfies us. The kids will hear examples of this so they can begin to understand how this applies to their own lives. 1 Kings 8:1-24, 54-56, & 1 Kings 9: 1-9 We are continuing our Solomon series. If you’ve missed a few, I'd highly recommend you go back and listen as they build upon themselves.Today's episode picks up after Solomon completed the temple (episode # 280). We listen in as Solomon prays to the Lord and hear what the Lord says to Solomon in return. The Lord warns him and his descendants not to turn away from Him, not to wander and serve other gods. The kids will begin to understand that out of His love, God gives us rules and consequences. When he tells us to do something it's because it's for our own good! He wants to protect us and He offers us things that are real, lasting, and loving versus other things that have fake promises. I try to help the children connect these dots with real life examples they can understand. Thanks for tuning in & helping teach the Bible to your children. Matthew 27:50-56, 2 Chronicles 3:8-14 & Hebrews 4:14, 16 In our last episode, we heard Solomon built the temple. 1 Kings 5:1-10, 6:1-20,29-38, 1 Samuel 16:7, & 1 John 4:19 Today we hear Solomon build a magnificent temple for the Lord. Below, there are links you can visit to see a video of what Solomon's temple looked like. We hear how marvelous Solomon's temple was but the kids are reminded that Solomon didn't need to earn God's love and neither do we. 1 John 4:19 "We love because He first loved us." God chose to love us first, we didn’t have to earn it by becoming rich and famous or building the most impressive building. Sometimes people will only be kind or loving if they are first shown that. For example, you will only share your bike if they first share their rollerblades. That's not how God works. He shares His love with us first! 1Kings 3:1-15, 1Kings 4:20-34 , & Proverbs 3:14-15 If you missed last weeks episode, make sure to go back and listen so you understand how we got to where we are. Today we hear Solomon ask God for wisdom. This pleases God and God not only gives him wisdom but riches. We will learn that Solomon wrote some of this wisdom down in the book of Proverbs and read a verse showing the value of wisdom. In this world you may hear people call something wise when actually it’s the opposite, it's foolish. This is why It's important we always go back to our Bibles to see what it says about Godly wisdom. 1Kings1:28-53, 1 Kings2:1-4,10-12,& Chronicles 22:7-10 If you missed last week, we began the Solomon series. I highly recommend you go back and listen as the episodes build upon themselves. Today, we hear King David give important instructions to Solomon before he passes. Adonijah's status of king is short lived when Solomon is crowned king. We remember that long ago, God said all of this would happen. The kids will hear us discussing this important fact that God's plans can never be messed up. We also note that David made some terrible decisions but turned to God and asked him for forgiveness. The kids will be reminded that even our mistakes can be used in God's plan and even though David had some huge mess ups, it did not disqualify him from God's love or God's plan. That brings us peace and encouragement! To be age appropriate, we are not discussing certain details about David's sin, but if it's something your family is ready to discuss, please do so. Tune in next week to hear what Solomon will do as the new king. To connect with me, go to https://www.kbspodcast.com/ See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. 1 Samuel 16:6-12, 1 Kings 1:1-25, Chronicles 22:7-10 Today we kick off our series on Solomon. We begin with a quick refresher on David since that is Solomon's father. As David aged, his reign as king was coming to an end. It was time for him to announce who would rule after him but before David even chose, one of his other sons, Adonijah, decided he would be king next, not Solomon. How will David choose who should become king next? We read in Chronicles that long before this moment, the Lord told David who would become king next. I hope you enjoy this Solomon series. Parents, some parts of episodes are adapted out of respect for the variety of ages that listen (Examples include adaptions for graphic violence and sex). Scripture is always referenced for parents to read and include more as is appropriate for their family.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. For the month of March, we are beginning a brand new series on Solomon! Each episode will also build upon itself so if you miss one, just go back and listen. We are going to learn about Solomon 1 episode at a time and let me tell you, the Bible is never boring so buckle up. Parents I have adapted some of these episodes out of respect for each family's ages and stages of life. I always include the scripture for you to read yourself and include what's appropriate for your family. I make every effort to not alter the meaning of the scriptures when using artistic liberties or adapting to be age appropriate. Being biblically sound is of utmost importance! Click the subscribe or follow button on your podcast so you will be alerted to each new, free episode that comes out. Psalm 119: 35-37 & 1 John 5:3-5 We continue our short love series. Today's episode will define what a command is and understand that God's commands are made out of his love for us. We will hear what the Bible says about this and move to an example so the kids can understand it. They will learn that rules are actually loving; a way to protect us and bring us delight. Please help us reach our goal of sponsoring 100 children through Compassion International. We've made it very simple to do so. You can: 1. 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 & 1 John 4:7, 9-10 This begins a short series on love. To celebrate Valentine's Day this month, I decided it would be good to see what the Bible has to say about love. Where does love come from? Who created it? What does it look like? Tune in to hear what the Bible has to say about these questions. 1 John 4:9-10: " This is how God showed his love to us: He sent his only Son into the world to give us life through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and God sent his Son to die in our place to take away our sins." Matthew 28 :1-10, 16-20 & Isaiah 40:8 Today, we hear Jesus promise to be with us ALWAYS! Not only on good days or when we are awake, but always!!! We hear Him say to go out and make disciples. The kids will learn what disciple means. We will also take a minute to marvel at just how far the Gospel has spread. We remember how far away most of us are from where the Gospel began and give thanks for those He sent to share God's word. Thank you so much for listening and sharing the Bible with your children. Ephesians 1:13 & Daniel 6:16- 17 Today we continue our short series about the Holy Spirit. We hear the word seal or sealed in the two Bible readings on this episode. But what does that mean? Paul said "And in Christ, God put his special mark on you, a seal, by giving you the Holy Spirit that He had promised." We discuss what the signet ring was used for historically and its significance. When God sends us the Holy Spirit, it’s like God taking his special signet ring and stamping us with it. God’s seal shows the world that we are His! Acts 1:12-14, 2:1-19, 32-33, 38-39, & John 14: 25 We start our episode hearing Jesus tell his disciples that the Father will send them the Helper, the Holy Spirit. But when will He send Him? Today's episode addresses this. We fast forward to after Jesus has risen and returned to heaven. The kids will get a brief order of events to help them understand when the episode takes place. We hear the Holy Spirit arrive...howling wind, flames of fire, everyone miraculously speaking different languages... incredible !!!!! Peter addresses the crowd who is chuckling at this wild site. Peter explains what is happening and reminds them that the Holy Spirit is a gift from God. There is so much to say about the Holy Spirit. Today we will cover when He arrived and how He helps us. Next week we will discuss another aspect of the Holy Spirit so tune in. Your children may have many questions........mine asked me 10 questions about Heaven yesterday ! Don't shy away from them. Be honest. If you don't know, tell them you will look it up and see what your Bible says or other online, Biblically sound resources have to say. I've also found it helpful to ask them what they think. It gives you a gauge on what they already know and sometimes clarifies what they're actually asking. There will also be times we don't have an answer..God is God, we are not, so we don't know it all but, we can remind our kids that we can trust what He says & pray for help to understand his Word. Acts 1:1-11 & Luke 24: 36-43 We just celebrated Christmas, which reminds us of Jesus' 1st coming. Today, we will hear the Bible teach about His second coming as we hear what the disciples experienced. Jesus gave us instructions on how we should live while we wait for him to return and guess what… He left us w/ some incredible promises as we wait too. We will talk about those more in the next episodes. For now, we remember we have hope. Why? Because God always keeps his promise so when the Bible says Jesus will come back, we can trust Jesus will return and that, that gives us hope. Micah 5:2, John 3:16-18, & Luke 2:1-7 Today we learn what a prophet is when we introduce Micah. We discuss how Micah specifically told where Jesus would be born and we follow the journey God put Mary and Joseph on to get them from Nazareth to Bethlehem. God used different people, events, etc but it allllllll happened just as He said it would. This story also drives home John 3:16-18; that God sent his son Jesus, not to condemn the World, but to save us through Jesus. What a precious gift this is! To engage more with this episode, you can grab a map and show your kids Nazareth and Bethlehem so they see where Mary and Jospeh traveled. 2 Chronicles 20: 1-6, 14-17, 21-23 & Psalm 118:1 Today we hear that King Jehoshaphat and his people faced a war which they didn't want to be a part of. They still gave thanks to God during the tough time, even before the war was won. We also briefly discuss the origins of the Thanksgiving holiday and learn that the pilgrims and those in our Bible story had a lot of sad and hard things they could’ve focused on, yet they chose to look for some good things to thank God for. This doesn’t mean we have to put on a happy face or ignore sad feelings; it means we still trust that God is good, He loves us, and we can be thankful for that even in sad times. We will hear a special ending as our wonderful listeners chime in on what they are thankful for. Thanks for listening! Job 34:19 & Isaiah 64:8 Today will be different than our normal Bible stories because we are doing a special episode to explore the large world our God has made, learn about the people he created, and hear how we are the same and different. Sometimes, we can get caught up in seeing just our little world and forget that not everyone lives the way we do. We explore the world as we hear about a group of children in the Philippines and how they get to school. Everyone gets to see just how big the world is, but how connected we are in Jesus. Psalm 119:105-112 & John 8:12 Today's story is shorter than usual b/c we need time to discuss it. In this episode, the Bible shows us Jesus is the best light, the real light. The kids will consider if there are bad lights. This is where our fireflies and fish discussion comes in. The magnificent light Jesus offers us helps guide us… “Your word is a lamp to my feet, a light on my path" through God’s word. The kids will recognize that some things try to be a brighter light than Jesus & pull our attention to it. Sometimes, these "lights" want to guide us and act like they are the best light but they aren’t. Only Jesus is the 1 true light, who wants what’s really best for us. John 1:43-51 Today we hear Jesus gather more followers; Phillip and Nathanael. Nathanael doubts that the the savior could come from the town of Nazareth. John 1:19-23 & 35-42 In today's episode, we will hear priests asking John the Baptist who he is. They have journeyed all the way to find him in order to understand who he really was. We discuss that there are others in the Bible with the same name so it's important to know which John we are reading about. We also meet Andrew and hear that he was excited to follow Jesus. Andrew couldn't wait to tell his brother, Simon, all about the Messiah. The kids will be reminded that we too get to tell others about Jesus just like Andrew did. Matthew 15:29-39 We continue our compassion series. If you’ve missed the previous ones, please go back and listen as they build upon themselves. Today, we are learning about compassion from the one who did it best and of course, we are talking about Jesus. The scriptures will show how He had compassion on the hungry crowd. We've heard something similar to this before when Jesus fed the 5,000. The kids are encouraged to look up Mark 6 & 8 and Matthew 14 &15 where both feedings are recorded. Parents, help them identify similarities and differences between them. Joshua and I also hope you can join us in sponsoring a child through Compassion International. Matthew 14:13-21 Today, we begin a series about compassion. We begin by defining it and seeing how Jesus showed us how to be compassionate through His actions. Jesus had just received some sad news about John the Baptist but despite this, he had compassion on the crowd. He healed the sick and fed them too. There is so much to learn from this story that we will do it again in the future to accommodate talking about more of it. The kids will be prompted to consider how they can show compassion to others. Acts 27:21-44 We pick up from last week's story where we find Paul on rough seas as he journeys to visit Caesar. Paul tells everyone about God's promise He has given him......and guess what!??!??! Every single one of those promises comes true! We discuss that God has given us promises too and read some of these from our Bible today. While we hopefully won't be on a creaky boat with waves crashing all around, we too have times where life feels stormy. The kids are encouraged to memorize some of God's promises so we can cling to them when life does get a bit stormy. Thanks for sharing the Bible with your children! Acts 25:10-12 & 27:1-26 This episode introduces Paul and gives a brief history about who he is. Paul is falsely being accused of breaking the law so he asked to be sent to Caesar, since he is a Roman citizen, and discuss his case with him. Today's story picks up here on this exciting journey. Esther 4:15-17, 5,6,7 In order to respect each families ages & stages of life, I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures referenced discussing with your family as is appropriate. These episodes build upon themselves so please listen to Esther part 1 & 2 if you’ve missed them. Queen Esther saw a problem and instead of pushing it off on someone else to solve, Mordecai reminded her that maybe God made her queen for that exact moment. The kids will be reminded that like Esther, God has specific plans for them. God knows we will see certain problems or someone needing help and He wants US to be the one to help. Our loving God wants us to be included in His wonderful plans....the plans may be small or big, but each day God has a purpose for US ! Esther 2:19- 4:14 In order to respect each families ages & stages of life, I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures referenced discussing with your family as is appropriate. We continue our Esther series. Listen to # 254 if you missed it. Today, we hear Esther has a serious decision to make. We learn that doing the right thing can be unpopular or even kind of scary sometimes. The kids will think about examples of this in their lives. We remain encouraged that right is always right even if no one else is doing it AND hear that perhaps, Esther was made Queen for such a time as this.
